Construction Specifier
Mead & Hunt, a nationally recognized professional services consulting firm, is seeking an individual to lead our industrial mechanical team. Responsibilities include assigning projects to staff and monitoring workload; handling administrative functions such as approvals, performance evaluations, and pay recommendations; monitor and address staff performance; manage projects and/or provide technical oversight; assist with review and approval of project budgets including billing and invoicing; coordinate, evaluate and recommend training to further develop staff; negotiate and/or administer contracts; remain current on relevant technical and management issues. Mead and Hunt’s architecture and building engineering group has an opening for a full-time construction specifier. Some travel will be required. Responsibilities include: Maintaining and updating, or assisting with maintaining and updating, master specification templates Quality control reviews of project specifications; providing training and support on specification software platforms Preparing and/or assisting with writing specifications for Divisions 00-14 for certain projects and interdisciplinary coordination of entire project manual; Assists teams with product research, evaluation; and selection; Providing leadership for formatting of specifications across disciplines Staying current with building products, materials, technologies and standards Providing specification-related training recommendations and mentoring for staff. The successful candidate must have all of the following: Bachelor of Science degree (or higher) in construction management, architecture or engineering from an accredited school or college program AND ten years of relevant experience OR associate degree in construction management, architecture or engineering from an accredited school or college program AND twelve years of relevant experience OR No degree with at least fourteen years of relevant experience CSI Construction Document - Technologist (CDT) certification The ideal candidate will have any/all of the following: Construction Specifier Certification (Ability to become) Experience leading the specification writing process for Divisions 00-14 with previous experience meeting schedules and quality expectations Knowledge of current products, materials and standards including those specified in Divisions 03-14, ICC Codes, and Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC's) Experience with SpecLink, MasterWorks, SpecsIntact Professional licensure as an architect or engineer Experience preparing project manuals for vertical projects in the following markets: aviation; defense; higher education; federal, state or local government At Mead & Hunt we shape the future by putting people first.
