Job Description
We are searching for an experienced construction superintendent for community solar projects in Illinois. The role involves managing day-to-day operations and administrative duties on-site for multiple community solar sites throughout Illinois, each approximately 1-2.5 MW. Construction Supervisors will oversee project construction from the on-site trailer, reporting directly to the Sr Construction Manager, and sending daily reports of progress and safety. This is an opportunity to gain experience in the renewable energy industry with the potential to transition to a full-time position.
ResponsibilitiesManage the day-to-day operations and administrative duties on-site.Report directly to the Sr Construction Manager and send daily progress and safety reports.Manage sub vendors on-site and coordinate with their foremen.Enforce safety and regulatory policies and procedures.Set daily and weekly productivity standards for contractors and subcontractors.Develop a three-week look-ahead schedule and work with the Sr Construction Manager to ensure the schedule is met.Coordinate deliveries of equipment with the logistics team and subcontractors.Review project plans, blueprints, and specifics daily.Essential SkillsConstruction management experience in commercial projects (electrical or civil).Technical degree in Engineering or Construction Management or extensive construction management experience.Ability to read blueprints and schematics.Experience managing sub vendors.Proficiency in PDF, Microsoft Word, and Excel. Must be computer savvy.OSHA 10 certification.OSHA 30 certification (can be arranged if expired or for highly qualified candidates).Additional Skills & QualificationsSolar experience.Electrician or electrical experience.Work Environment
The work environment is a solar construction site with a company trailer. On any given day, there will be multiple electrical and civil subcontractors on-site. The hours are primarily Monday to Friday, with a standard 40-hour work week from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM. Overtime must be approved by the supervisor and is not common for this role. The dress code is construction attire—jeans and a t-shirt with proper PPE.
