Consultant, Environmental Impact (Mid - Level)

ERM is seeking a motivated Environmental Impact Assessment Consultant with an environmental science and/or biology background to join our office in Washington, DC. The ideal candidate must have excellent writing and oral proficiency in English. Spanish is a plus, but not required. This person will assist Project Managers on a variety of Environmental, Social & Health Impact Assessment projects to support our sustainable finance and capital project development project in a variety of sectors, including oil & gas, power, mining, and transportation. RESPONSIBILITIES:

Planning and conducting field research using quantitative and qualitative methods, such as literature review, on-site biophysical characterization, and rapid assessments.Assessing environmental and biodiversity impacts of large-scale development projects in the US and internationally.Design and implementation of management measures, preparation of plans and procedures to manage project’s risks and impacts (ESMP on environmental parameters such as air, water, noise, land use, soil etc.).Performing multiple projects within scope/budget/schedule expectations and ensuring high quality standards on project deliverables.Communicating with clients, ERM employees, subcontractors, and vendors.Occasionally participating in public consultations to conduct presentations with clients and the general public.Technical report writing.

REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor’s degree in biology, environmental sciences, environmental engineering, or related discipline.Up to 5 years of experience, including willingness/interest in research.Practical knowledge and understanding of quantitative analysis tools and techniques related to environmental baseline studies and impact assessment.All candidates should have a demonstrated interest in business consulting and environmental/social issues (either through related coursework, previous employment, or personal endeavors).Strong commitment to safety, including following established Health and Safety protocols.Effective written/verbal communication and organization/analytical skills; experience recording/writing detailed technical data and reports.Ability to multi-task, maintains flexibility, and works independently with minimal supervision.Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.Demonstrated attributes to become a strong consultant – team player, eagerness to learn and grow, self-starter who takes initiative, versatile, and service-oriented mentality.Knowledge of international standards (IFC, Equator Principles) is advantageous.Spanish fluency both written and verbal is advantageous but not required.

For the Consultant, Environmental Impact position, we anticipate the annual base pay of $65,113 – $78, 278 USD.  An employee’s pay position within this range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, and business or organizational needs.  We also may have instances where compensation may be outside of the range, based on the factors noted above.  This job is also eligible for an annual discretionary based performance bonus.
