The US A-IRB Team, part of US Risk Analytics & Infrastructure, supports the users and stakeholders of the A-IRB rating framework at CIBC Bank USA and across CIBC US Operations.  The A-IRB Team provides user support for commercial credit ratings processes, including addressing issues and questions from lines of business and other stakeholders, quality control reviews, support for model quantification, and data analysis and reporting for A-IRB ratings outcomes.

At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role.  You’ll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you’ll spend 1-3 days per week on-site, while other days will be remote.

 

What you’ll do:

 Primarily responsible for developing data and providing analysis to support development, testing, and refinement of credit risk rating modelsMay have the opportunity to support the other functions of the US A-IRB Team, including support for users/stakeholders of A-IRB rating models, and Quality Control ReviewUtilize independent judgement to determine methods and approaches to work, while liaising with other departments to establish collaborative relationships, provide expertise, and communicate analytical findingsGenerates queries and post-analysis that enable the development of risk business intelligence activitiesLook for opportunities to streamline and automate the data collection and analysis processes, including use of ML, AI, data scraping, and other emerging technologies

 

Who you are:

Knowledgeable of credit risk rating concepts and the data used to rate and underwrite commercial credit obligors and facilities.  Experience with advanced commercial credit ratings (A-IRB or dual risk ratings)Experience with abstract aspects of risk analytics, quantitative modelling, and model validation, in order to provide historical and current data that best supports model development. Have an understanding of documentation to support inquiries from auditors and regulators on analysis and data work, including how the historical data was gathered, filtered, modified, or interpreted, and why the choices made in developing data were appropriate.Have some experience in data analytics, and are knowledgeable about emerging technologies that could be used to improve data collection and analysis for supporting credit risk model developmentBachelor’s degree is preferred with 3 – 7 years of experience in commercial credit underwriting.

At CIBC, we offer a competitive total rewards package. This role has an expected salary range of $86,600 - $120,000 for the market based on experience, qualifications, and location of the position. The successful candidate may be eligible to participate in the relevant business unit’s incentive compensation plan, which may also include a discretionary bonus component.
