We are seeking a talented, motivated, and passionate environmental sustainability professionals to join our Sustainability Consulting team as a Consultant, with a focus on the Building Materials industry, including core construction materials and interior finishing components, and the execution of Environmental Product Declarations (EPD),

What you will do:

Your work will help our clients reduce their environmental impacts and create more sustainable operations. Through the use of Sphera’s industry-leading Life Cycle Assessment For Experts (LCA FE) software, you will conduct and support EPD and LCA projects that empower our clients to reduce the environmental footprint of their products, make environmentally positive product design decisions, and prepare Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) that allow our clients to report with transparency and accuracy. In this role, you will also stay on top of industry trends, support development of product category rules and generate thought leadership related to EPD, and work with industry-leading companies as a trusted advisor to help them develop strategies and programs to operate more sustainably and decarbonize their operations and supply chains.  


A typical week at Sphera may include:

Collaborating on multiple concurrent consulting projects addressing EPD, LCA, product sustainability strategy, and developing tools to measure product carbon footprint.Using powerful tools like our industry-leading LCA FE software Sphera’s Managed Life Cycle Content (MLC) Library, the largest commercially available collection of LCA data sets on the market with over 20,000+ emissions factors to create best-in-class life cycle models and inventories of products, materials, and processesInterfacing with industry leading, Fortune 500 companies to develop innovative sustainability tools and strategiesWriting ISO 21930/14040/44 compliant reports documenting your project workDeveloping and delivering consultative sustainability services, advising clients to help them operate more sustainably and reduce their greater environmental impact, connecting the dots between product-level sustainability and broader corporate sustainability strategyConducting in-depth analysis of our client’s product and enterprise environmental impactsCollaborating with Sphera team members across different specialties and regions to innovate, develop best practices, and deliver world-class results,

What you’ll bring to Sphera:

Client-focused mentality with a bias toward actionA positive attitude and desire to help companies succeed in an environmentally sustainable mannerA collaborative spirit and proactive approach to problem solvingThe knowledge and skills you’ve developed with 3-5 years of EPD and LCA experienceBachelor’s degree in engineering, sustainability, sciences, or related field. Master’s or PhD a plusPrevious experience in the Building Materials industry and an understanding of key impact leversKnowledge and passion for sustainability, environmental systems, life cycle thinking, product sustainability, and/or climate change.Strong project management skills to ensure that projects adhere to scope, schedule, budget, and quality requirements.Strong data skills and experience with Excel (or other data formats) to validate, format, and transform data into information,Strong quantitative or technical background with an excellent aptitude for analytical thinking. Natural curiosity to investigate issues, conduct research, design solutions, and translate results into business practices.Experience with LCA software, previous experience with LCA FE (previously known as GaBi) a plus.Good oral and written communication skills; ability to articulate issues, give presentations, and prepare formal written reports.Self-motivated and organized; able to simultaneously work on multiple assignments and to work both independently as well as on teams.Proficiency with MS Office, particularly Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.You must be authorized to work in the United States; we cannot sponsor a visa for this position.

Pay:

$89,600.00 - $134,400.00 + Eligible for Variable Compensation Plan
