Consulting Structural Engineer III
Amentum is currently searching for an Consulting Structural Engineer III to work in our Englewood, CO office. The Consulting Engineer is responsible for providing engineering guidance, calculations, analysis, studies and recommendations for a specialized segment of engineering within schedule and budget of an assigned project. Additional responsibilities may be assigned according to the needs of the company, project, or contract. **Essential Responsibilities:** 1. Prepares, reviews and approves drawings as required. 2. Prepares and presents expert testimony before regulatory bodies and courts. 3. Prepares and makes presentations to client and company management. 4. Assists with interpreting codes and permitting as it relates to a specific discipline. 5. Ensures quality, quantity, and completeness of the assigned engineering tasks. 6. Advanced level of specialized engineering knowledge within a specific discipline and has basic understanding of other disciplines. 7. Fully versed in business development concepts and methods and supports the project proposal process. 8. Fully versed with the process of preparing and checking calculations as well as the approval, revision, retention, and storage of calculations within a specific discipline. 9. Fully versed in the collection and/or evaluation of data and information regarding technical and economic factors including physical, chemical, environmental, maintenance, operational, regulatory, constructability, and/or schedule factors relating to a specific subject within a discipline. 10. Reviews and advises on purchase orders and subcontracts. 11. Assists with the development of manpower, man-hour and labor cost requirements to aid in evaluating the budget. 12. Leads estimating tasks and performs material take off's for a specific discipline. 13. Fully understands the planning and scheduling of engineering tasks. 14. Understands the project change control process and identifies potential changes. 15. Fully versed with and can check the work sequence, general content and the methods used to generate specifications for the purchase of material, equipment, systems, services or construction within a specific discipline. 16. Can integrate all project functional requirements into a complete project plan. 17. Builds productive relationships with organizations within and external to Engineering. 18. Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested. **Minimum Requirements:** - US Citizen - Bachelor of Science degree (or equivalent education) in an appropriate engineering discipline or the sciences from a four year accredited college or university. - 15+ years of professional experience within a discipline or specialty. - Professional Engineering License required. - In-depth knowledge within a specific discipline and understanding of the other disciplines. - In-depth knowledge of industry codes and standards, including AISC 360, ASCE 7, IBC, and ACI 318 - Good oral and written communication skills; working knowledge of word-processing and integrated software applications; organizational skills and ability to perform detail-oriented work are required. - Position may require the ability to pass and maintain a Security Clearance. - Position may require travel. **Preferred Qualifications:** - Master of Science degree or Doctorate in structural engineering - Government or nuclear experience, i.e., DOD, DOE, NR - In-depth knowledge of AISC Seismic Design Provisions, i.e., AISC 341 - Basic knowledge of nuclear facility design codes including ACI 349, AISC N690, ASCE 43, and DOE-STD-1020 - Basic knowledge of ANSYS analysis software **Compensation & Benefits** HIRING SALARY RANGE: $150/hourly (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant internal equity, and alignment with market data.) ​This position includes a competitive benefits package.
