PAY RANGE

The Target Pay Range for this position is $30.19-$36.78 hourly. The full Pay Range is $23.42-$43.56 hourly. At BECU, compensation decisions are determined using factors such as relevant job-related skills, experience, and education or training. Should an offer for employment be made, we will consider individual qualifications. In addition to your salary, compensation incentives are available for the hired applicant. Incentives are performance based and targets vary by role.

IMPACT YOU’LL MAKE

As a Consumer Loan Underwriter at BECU, you will play a key role in supporting our members' financial goals by evaluating and approving loan applications with efficiency and expertise. Your insights and decisions will help ensure our members receive the best financial solutions tailored to their needs, while also maintaining the integrity and profitability of our loan portfolio. You will collaborate with various delivery channels, including indirect dealers, to enhance member satisfaction and drive the growth of BECU's consumer lending program. Your contributions will be vital in maintaining high standards of lending quality and compliance, ultimately helping BECU achieve its mission of empowering financial well-being for all.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Evaluate and Approve Loans: Review, analyze, underwrite, and approve loan applications within your designated lending authority, following BECU's policies and guidelines.Provide Loan Solutions: Offer prompt attention to loan applications and provide detailed explanations for loan decisions, including denials and counteroffers, while suggesting suitable BECU loan products.Collaborate with Dealerships: Work with dealerships through the Indirect Lending Channel to purchase loans and address any dealer issues promptly and professionally.Analyze Financials: Analyze member tax returns, cash flow, and overall financial situation to provide informed loan structuring recommendations.Maintain Lending Standards: Meet and uphold portfolio lending quality standards, making decisions that align with BECU's financial goals and member needs.Act as a Resource: Serve as a point of contact for member and dealer-related issues within your lending authority, ensuring swift and satisfactory resolutions.Enhance Knowledge: Maintain comprehensive knowledge of Credit Bureau issues, consumer loan products, decision matrices, and automated scoring systems to better assist members.Optimize Processes: Monitor workflows, suggest process improvements, and participate in initiatives to enhance service levels and productivity.Contribute to Product Development: Research and evaluate the need for process or product changes, making recommendations that enhance BECU’s lending services.Support Team Efforts: Actively participate in team activities, helping monitor service levels and productivity to achieve department goals.Perform Additional Duties: Take on additional tasks as needed to support the team and department.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in business required or equivalent work or education-related experience.Minimum three years of lending related experience required.Proven ability to analyze financial data and make sound credit recommendations and decisions in accordance with lending policies and guidelines required.Demonstrated ability to effectively resolve complex member situations, using strong problem-solving skills to identify issues and implement appropriate solution required.

Desired Qualifications

Minimum one year of consumer lending underwriting product experience, secured or unsecured.
