Responsibilities

The Container Inspector is responsible for estimating the repair of maritime chassis, domestic, and intermodal equipment. This role involves inspecting all types of shipping containers and determining necessary repairs based on various inspection criteria (IICL, Cargo Worthy, Wind and Water Tight, etc.). The inspector will also document completed repairs that were not indicated on original repair estimates, assist in completing supplemental repair estimates, and ensure quality control on all repaired equipment. The position requires operating appropriate powered industrial equipment and may involve working outdoors in all weather conditions.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Inspect all types of shipping containers, including maritime, domestic, and intermodal equipment.Estimate necessary repairs based on IICL, Cargo Worthy, Wind and Water Tight, and other relevant inspection standards.Document repairs completed beyond the original estimate and assist in generating supplemental repair estimates.Perform quality control inspections on all repaired equipment.Operate powered industrial equipment as required.Maintain a detailed and organized record of inspections, estimates, and completed repairs.Collaborate with team members and customers to ensure high-quality service.Ensure compliance with safety protocols and regulatory requirements. Qualifications

 

High school diploma or equivalent.Proficiency in Microsoft Office software.Energetic, customer-driven, and able to work in a fast-paced environment.Strong organizational skills with keen attention to detail.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Ability to enter data accurately and efficiently into a computer terminal.Valid driver’s license.Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions.Ability to obtain a TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) card.Must pass a pre-employment background verification, physical and drug screeningThe Federal Rail Administration sets and enforces safety regulations and standards for railroad operations. Use of cannabis is strictly prohibited. If applicable for the position you are applying to, and if you are offered the position, you will have to take and pass a drug screen. Availability to work Monday through Friday, from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience or willingness to learn International Institute of Container Lessors (IICL) repair standards and practices.Prior experience in container inspection or repair is a plus.

Work Environment:

Must be comfortable working outdoors and in various weather conditions.The role involves physical activity, including lifting, bending, and walking.
