Summary:
This is a one-person operation, and the editor is responsible for all aspects of print and digital content production. Just as important is a comprehensive understanding of the Jewish Journal readership and the community it aims to reach.
What you will do:
Plan four weekly zoned editions
Select and process appropriate content from national, international, and local sources
Edit freelance content
Meet print production deadlines and coordinate with production editors
Post stories online throughout the week and grow digital traffic
Promote content through social media and a weekly newsletter
Write briefs, stories and/or columns
Be an ambassador in the community for the Jewish Journal
What you will bring:
One to three years of journalism experience in news editing, reporting and writing, using social media, creating enterprising content
Strong editing, writing, organizational and story structure skills
Understanding of the imperatives of emerging and existing platforms, including web, mobile and print
Ability to work weekends and holidays on a rotational basis as well as odd hours if necessary or if news requires
A degree in journalism or communication preferred
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required

The Jewish Journal is a publication of the South Florida Sun Sentinel that is distributed free to synagogues, Jewish owned businesses and communities in north Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties.
