Overview of Position

The Content Specialist supports the development of multimedia content for OPTAVIA that aligns with brand voice and audience needs to cut through the noise and drive business goals. With a knack for all things storytelling (researching, writing, editing galore), you’ll craft, curate, polish and re-purpose content for websites, blogs, social media, email campaigns, and more. This role calls for a hybrid brand strategist and creative powerhouse with a knack for innovation and project management.

This role offers a unique opportunity to directly influence key business objectives, driving the brand's growth and shaping its future trajectory through the execution of comprehensive content tactics that drive brand awareness, engagement, and lead generation for Medifast’s OPTAVIA brand as well as arm its community of coaches with the marketing assets they need to break through and acquire new clients.

The global obesity crisis continues to impact people of all ages and socioeconomic backgrounds, and now with the advancement in innovative medical solutions, there is greater consumer and commercial interest in health and wellness than ever before.

Adoption of medically supported weight loss solutions has accelerated rapidly but many consumers are struggling to understand the role that medication can play in supporting long-term health. We believe weight loss medications alone are not a sliver bullet, but when paired with lifestyle changes, clinician care and foundational drivers of wellbeing, including nutrition and exercise, it can play an important role in addressing significant health challenges faced by people around the world.

II. Job Responsibilities

Content Creation

Collaborate with team of designers, videographers, and other team members to create cohesive and integrated multimedia content for multiple platforms and audiences. Repurpose content to drive efficiency and brand consistency. Write clear, concise, and compelling copy that aligns with the brand voice and style guidelines and maintains high standards of accuracy, grammar, and overall quality. Approach storytelling opportunities journalistically, asking informed questions to understand how initiatives intersect with the company’s mission. Contribute to brainstorms and suggest new ideas based on best practices, competitor reviews, and cultural trends. Monitor content performance to track current and inform future content plans.

Maintain Content Library and Governance

Maintain a centralized content library to ensure all assets are organized, accessible, and up-to-date. Implement and enforce content governance processes, ensuring proper version control and compliance with brand standards. Regularly audit the content library to identify gaps, outdated materials, or opportunities for repurposing.

Project Management

Track milestones, deadlines, and dependencies to ensure timely delivery of content that is accurate, compliant, and approved by all parties. Communicate with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth project execution. Track performance metrics and adjust strategies based on insights.

Brand Stewardship

Serve as a company-wide steward of the brand, supporting copyediting and proofing as needed.

III. Scope

The Content Specialist reports to the Senior Manager of Content Strategy and is an individual contributor with no direct reports. This role is based in Baltimore HQ and is hybrid.

IV. Knowledge, Education, Skills & Abilities

Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, journalism, or related area. Minimum of two years’ related experience Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills with a strong portfolio of work.  Outstanding interpersonal communication skills and the ability to effectively collaborate with team leaders and peers. Exceptional organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail. Enthusiastic, reliable, and self-motivated with strong time management and prioritization skills, with the ability to lead multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously. Deep understanding of digital marketing trends, content marketing, and brand strategy.  Strong organizational skills and ability to independently prioritize and manage multiple projects effectively. Attention to detail and ability to proactively provide creative solutions.  Proficient in Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, and Excel.  Travel as required. Knowledge of the direct sales industry is a plus.
