**Pay Range:** $61,068 - $99,403 per year
Rush salaries are determined by many factors including, but not limited to, education, job-related experience and skills, as well as internal equity and industry specific market data. The pay range for each role reflects Rush’s anticipated wage or salary reasonably expected to be offered for the position. Offers may vary depending on the circumstances of each case.
**Summary:**
As a member of the Marketing Communications team, the Content Strategist plays a key role in supporting Rush’s strategic priorities and marketing goals, specifically within the Office of Community Health Equity and Engagement (CHEE) and the Rush Education and Career Hub (REACH). The Content Strategist is responsible for planning and creating high-quality content that aligns with the strategic marketing objectives of CHEE and REACH. This individual will be an effective multitasker, managing multiple projects simultaneously, including website content, content marketing, newsletters, marketing collateral, and advertising.
As a vital part of the Content and Digital Strategy team, the Content Strategist collaborates closely with colleagues across the marketing and communications teams—such as marketing strategy, design, production, internal communications, and media relations—as well as with both clinical and nonclinical staff throughout the Rush system. The Content Strategist must embody the mission, vision, and values of the Rush University System for Health, adhere to Rush policies and procedures, and contribute to Rush’s continued growth and success.
**Requirements:**
• Bachelor’s degree required; preferably in English, journalism, marketing or a related field. Three or more years of writing experience, preferably in marketing communications.
• Excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills.
• Experience with narrative storytelling via digital platforms (e.g. Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, etc..)
• Experience working collaboratively with other professionals to complete projects in a timely manner.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Must be comfortable interviewing people at all levels of the organization, including senior leadership.
• Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
• Ability to work with clients and internal colleagues to promote content strategy that aligns with business goals and user needs.
• Ability to convey complex ideas in creative, easy-to-understand ways.
• Ability to work independently and as part of multifunctional teams.
• Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends.
**Preferred Job Qualifications:**
• Youth or young adult experience a plus.
• Working with community partners is a plus.
**Responsibilities:**
Envision and plan enhancements for websites in collaboration with others in marketing and communications and with stakeholders throughout the institution.
•Provide vision and strategy to align content with Rush’s business goals and user needs.
•Help clinical stakeholders (internal clients) determine their communication goals.
•Provide guidance about the most effective content approach that balances stakeholders’ goals with the audience’s needs.
•Use data to support strategic content recommendations and the best channels for distributing content.
•Serve as the content strategy lead for clinical service lines and other stakeholder groups, as assigned.
•Manage all aspects of the content lifecycle: planning, research, writing, production, distribution and measurement Marketing Copy Production
•Write and edit creative and compelling digital and print content for different audiences that supports Rush’s overall content and communications strategies.
•Write and edit digital content optimized for organic search (SEO) that follows best practices for digital content.
•Generate ideas for new content that aligns with overall content, marketing and social media plans.
•Interview sources and conduct research, as needed.
•Carefully collect and process source feedback or approvals, as needed.
•Promote and support brand and editorial standards.
•Edit content to ensure all copy and messaging is on-brand and consistent in terms of style, voice and tone.
•Review and edit colleagues’ copy and accept edits and other feedback from colleagues as part of a collaborative effort to produce consistent, high-quality content.
•Serve as project manager and/or editor for digital and print publications.
•Coordinate photo or video shoots as needed, and work with graphic designers and other members of the marketing team.
•As needed, communicate feedback to freelance writers assigned to various projects.
Work efficiently and effectively with members of the department across communications functions, sharing copy, source interviews, etc.
•As a member of the marketing communications team, assist on other department projects as requested.
