The Content Intern position provides the opportunity for students to gain knowledge and experience working in business-to-business media and association publishing with Naylor Association Solutions. Interns will work directly with Naylor’s Content Department to create quality publications for associations to use as a membership information and engagement tool. This will be done through editorial planning, content creation, copy editing and proofing. This position will require the intern to research and create industry content for multiple print publications, update and coordinate digital content for websites and newsletters, and provide support for content-related special projects. Work for this position will be done independently and in coordination with other Naylor content team members. The goal of this program is to give interns relevant content and editorial experience so that they can compete in the current employment climate, while at the same time supporting Naylor. This is an unpaid internship with 10-15 hours per week required in the summer semester.

Learn copy editing, writing, content management and content strategy skills.Learn how to work in a professional, fast-paced work environment.Gain exposure to several different industry publications of varying sizes and frequencies.Learn how to balance and prioritize workload and time management.Learn the publication and editorial process from start to finish.Learn how to assess a publication’s content needs.Curate and create editorial content geared toward a specific, niche readership Responsibilities Research industry information to help create annual content plans.Curate and collect relevant and timely content for industry publications.Copyedit articles so text is readable, accurate and ready for publication by correcting grammar, spelling and punctuation.Adhere to style guides according to association needs, in most cases, AP style.Conduct short interviews and write articles, as well as headlines, photo captions and other text.Select relevant and compelling artwork and images to illustrate articles.Proof magazines and other publications during the layout and production process.Edit digital newsletters and magazine websites, and upload content to these platforms regularly.Assist with content-related special projects. Qualifications Students entering junior or senior year are preferred. Journalism, English or communications majors are preferred.Minimum 3.0 GPA.Able to commit to 10-15 hours per week in the summer semester.Excellent problem solving, organization and time management skills.Excellent written and oral communication skills, including AP Style.Proficiency in a variety oof computer software programs such as Microsoft 365 Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel), Adobe Suite (InCopy, Acrobat), Slack and WordPress preferred. Ability to work with a dynamic team to meet tight deadlines.Ability to operate according to Naylor’s core operating values, most notably the ability to operate with honesty and integrity.
