Content Writer
The Office of Pre-Professional Programs and Advising serves Johns Hopkins University undergraduates, graduate students, and alumni of the Krieger School of Arts & Sciences and the Whiting School of Engineering pursuing graduate education in medicine, dentistry, other health professions and law. A central component of service is to write Health Professions Committee Letters, which present a holistic overview of each candidate’s application to medical or dental schools. Each summer, the Office of Pre-Professional Programs & Advising composes approximately 450 Committee Letters that support applicants to medical or dental school. We are seeking a **_Content Writer_** who will play a central role in the writing of those Committee Letters. Content Writers convert applicant information into text suitable for use in the Health Professions Committee Letters. Content Writers work remotely and independently; they are responsible for editing their work as they write. **Writers active term will run from approximately March 2025 until approximately August 2025.** _Review of applicants will begin immediately with a proposed start date in early March 2025. Applicants being considered as finalists will be contacted via email and be asked to submit a draft committee letter as a writing sample._ _Compensation_ Writers will be compensated $30.00/hr. with the expectation that one letter will take no more than 2.5 hours to complete. Content writers will be compensated for all mandatory training. **Specific Duties & Responsibilities** + Attend mandatory trainings prior to writing assignments being distributed. + Write committee letters according to guidelines provided. + Proofread letters as they are written. + On average, one letter should take approximately 2.5 hours to complete. + Collaborate and communicate with Office Pre-Professional Programs and Advising staff and advisors. + Comply with confidentiality agreement and ethical guidelines. + Meet specified deadlines for letters through employment term. **Requirements per Application** + Resume. + One-page writing sample (non-creative writing; if available, a previously drafted letter of recommendation preferred). **Minimum Qualifications** + Bachelor's Degree. + Two years related experience. Writing samples may be requested during the selection process. **Preferred Qualifications** + Proficiency in Microsoft office, specifically Microsoft Word. + Excellence in writing/editing/proofreading. + Fluency in English required. \#LI-DNP Classified Title: Writer Job Posting Title (Working Title): Content Writer Role/Level/Range: ATP/03/PB Starting Salary Range: $23.69 - $41.43 HRLY ($30.00 targeted; Commensurate w/exp.)
