Location/Division Specific Information:

Part of the Laboratory Products Division, the Newport site manufacture a range of laboratory consumables. The products are used within research, diagnostics, production and clinical settings.

How Will You Make an Impact?:

Within this position we are seeking hardworking colleagues that will engaged with a team for planned maintenance and breakdown repairs to injection mould tools, to maintain a fit for purpose condition. To provide machine shop support to site engineering and production functions. Assist with development of onsite spares, tooling manufacture to support onsite moulds and production needs.

Key Responsibilities:

Responsible for the efficient repair and servicing of all moulds, jigs, fixtures and extruder parts, to maintain production requirements and standardsTo manufacture spare parts, both to drawing and through means of using own initiative, by taking measurements of existing parts and making new ones to the same standardTo reach the highest level of refinement, through agreement on parts and moulds, in order to uphold the company's high quality standards for all products.To inspect externally manufactured components and check compatibility to existing mouldsEnsure that all equipment is maintained in a safe and reliable conditionCarry out and record any periodic PPM checks which have been allocated and for which they are skilledTo assist in any training of other Production Technicians and to attend any training courses deemed to improve skill levelEnsure safe working practices at all times and align with department rules and regulationsManagement of any occurrence or foreseeable occurrence likely to cause a breakdownTo ensure wastage of material is kept to a minimumMould PPM's when requiredCore/insert changesEnsure workplace is kept clean and tidyMaintain a high standard of housekeepingTo ensure manufacturing adheres to and conforms with the required technical and quality specifications in line with ISO 9000 quality systemsComply in accordance with Company’s Policies on Health and SafetySupport the development of 5S activities to maintain the highest levels of hygiene and housekeepingSupport lean manufacturing programme in conjunction with PPI teamTo be fully committed to concept of team work in all aspects of the job functionTo act all times in a responsible mannerTo be flexible and work with a multi-functional teamCarry out any reasonable requests that are required. To align with the terms and conditions of employment operating throughout the CompanyCNC machining experience desirable

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

Minimum of 5 GCSE grade A-CRecognized Engineering ApprenticeshipFormal Engineering Qualification

Essential Criteria:

Engineering/technical backgroundProven track record of experience in toolmaker role with knowledge of mould tools.Formal Indentured Apprenticeship
