 SUMMARY:

The CI Manager will report to the VP & Resident Mill Manager.  The CI Manager will support the Mill Manager, other Mill leadership and Mill personnel, and partner with the Paperboard Manufacturing Division CI org to accelerate Lean Six Sigma performance by building a culture of continuous improvement deploying Lean, A3, Six Sigma, KT and other CI strategies throughout the Mill.

JOB FUNCTIONS: Job functions include, but are not limited to the following.

Lead various CI projects within and across operations to optimize performance. Deliver significant Continuous Improvement Cost Savings through the execution of complex, Mill-wide A3 and Six Sigma projects. Certify within the Mill Division CI Program to enhance individual CI tools / techniques and co-train, coach and mentor internally certified CI practitioners and other improvement personnel in Lean, Six Sigma, and Rational Process Thinking Methodology. Work directly with Mill site leadership team and others to Guide the creation, documentation, and implementation of site focused improvement plans aligned with Division and Corporation strategy. Create opportunities for the mill to share and develop best practices with Lean Six Sigma. Emphasis on standard work, process confirmation to drive employee engagement, reduced voluntary turn-over and improved throughput / reduced cull. Build and develop improved operations, processes, and procedures to support the Mill Division’s strategic direction Facilitate a high level of employee participation on teams and in events to foster high involvement, accountability, and results. Other duties as assigned.

 

BACKGROUND / EXPERIENCE:

Minimum of 10 years of manufacturing experience preferred.  Prior manufacturing experience in the production of coated paper/board greatly preferred. Lean Six Sigma Certification preferred. Knowledge in lean, quality and statistical tools preferred.

 

EDUCATION / KNOWLEDGE:                    

Four-year college degree, is recommended (ideally with engineering, business management, or operations focus) or equivalent eight years of experience

 

SKILLS:

Clear record of safety / environmental leadership, commitment and results Excellent facilitation, presentation and communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate to groups and individuals at all levels of the organization Must have prior experience in influencing across functional and organization boundaries Must have excellent leadership skills and be able to lead in a fast-paced environment Prior experience in leading Lean Kaizen Events is desirable. Packaging industry experience is desirable Ability to travel periodically Dynamic, flexible team player with demonstrated ability to lead and develop others Proficient with MS Office Suite, personal communication tools Strong Self Starter Strong organizational skills
