Continuous Improvement Engineer

Eaton’s FFD Fluid Filtration Division is currently seeking a Continuous Improvement Engineer. This is a part-time role located at our Williamsport, MD facility. The work schedule will consist of three days during the workweek, and schedule details will be finalized based on candidate availability and site need.


Eaton is a leader in liquid filtration which helps its customers make clean and pure products spanning a range of industries such as pharmaceuticals, food and beverage, industrial and municipal water, petrochemicals, marine, automotive, agriculture and construction equipment, or power generation.


The Williamsport site is also home to our Industrial Plastics Division, which provides custom complex profile plastic extrusions for a wide variety of customers and industries. Eaton's value-added fabrication—such as length cutting, hole punching, texture, and tape backing for mounting applications—provides customers with the capabilities to complete any production.

The expected annual salary range for this role is $67500.0 - $99000.0 a year.

What you’ll do:

•    Report directly to the Plant Manager with indirect reporting lines to both the Engineering Manager and Division Continuous Improvement Manager.
•    Work directly with the site’s industrial plastic (IPD) production team as well as the warehouse team responsible for the distribution of Filtration products.
•    Work with team members cross-functionally (sales, maintenance, operations, supply chain, and engineering) to ensure customer requirements and expectations are met 
•    Drive sitewide continuous improvement initiatives—for both new and existing processes—with focus on innovation and efficiency.
•    Gather and analyze data, derive insights, and execute solutions at the site.
•    Create Value Stream Map (VSM) and oversee CI and lean projects to create efficiencies within the site. 
•    Work within the Eaton Continuous Improvement System (ECIS) framework as part of the daily tasks.
•    Apply continuous improvement techniques as means to eliminate waste, reduce variation, and deliver quality products to customers expectations through safe processes.
•    Lead 5S+ and cost out initiatives in the warehouse and production areas.
•    Perform data analysis to identify and prioritize improvement opportunities. 
•    Participate in ideation for new products and technologies.
•    Ensure standardization of products and adherence to engineering processes across multiple projects.
•    Benchmark best practices across Eaton Sites and share lessons learned. 
•    Provide input in initiating, developing and managing capital improvement projects including manufacturing equipment, facility enhancements and new product start-ups.
•    Explore ways to continue promoting and incorporating Industry 4.0 best practices at the site.
•    Interact with customers virtually and in person as part of project teams.
•    Interact with suppliers and contractors/service providers as needed for component and product development.
•    Act as a resource and provide support to the broader manufacturing population at the site. 
•    Work collaboratively across Eaton Filtration Division to achieve site’s cost out goals, lean efficiencies, and gain knowledge of best practices.
•    Submit a CI award annually for the site.

Qualifications:

Required (Basic) Qualifications:
•    Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited institution.
•    Minimum of one (1) year of relevant work experience from an internship, co-op, or full-time employment.
•    Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship, now or in the future. 
•    No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Only candidates within a 70-mile radius of Williamsport, MD will be considered. Active-Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation.

Preferred Qualifications:
•    Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering from an accredited institution.
•    Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, 5S, & Root Cause Analysis.
•    Experience using AutoCAD and ERP Systems.
