Your role and responsibilities

The Continuous Improvement Manager at ABB Energy Industries Canada is responsible for driving process improvement initiatives across various departments and functions to enhance operational efficiency, reduce waste, and improve overall productivity. This is a “hands-on” role and involves leveraging Lean, Six Sigma, and other methodologies to identify opportunities for improvement and implement sustainable solutions. •\tLead and manage continuous improvement projects for the Energy Industries Local Division in Canada. Analyze current business processes and identify areas for improvement to remove costs and eliminate waste and improve Quality. Identify and implement process improvements, analyze data, conduct root cause analysis, collaborate cross-functional teams, develop measurement systems, and train staff to enhance organizational efficiency and quality. Develop and execute improvement strategies, including change management activities. Implement new operational efficiency initiatives and monitor their effectiveness.•\tConduct continuous improvement training and workshops for staff at all levels.•\tUse a range of tools and methodologies such as Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, or Kaizen to drive process improvements, customer support improvement, and execution improvement. Maintain reports of continuous improvement activities and present progress to senior management. Encourage a culture of continuous improvement within the organization.•\tDeploys and leads strategy and objectives to deliver the improvement framework. Promotes and leads improvement programs and projects within their own area of responsibility, with a hands-on and problem-solving approach. Develop and maintain process documentation to support continuous improvement initiatives. Identifies and works to remove roadblocks that prevent the successful implementation and adoption of continuous improvement initiatives and oversees cases of conflicting priorities.•\tTrain and mentor staff on new processes and continuous improvement techniques. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful integration of process improvements. Monitor and report on the progress of continuous improvement projects to senior management. Stay updated on the latest trends and best practices in process improvement and lean manufacturing.•\tLeads digitalization of operations, including supply chain, Service Operations, Engineering and Project Management, and automation initiatives. Establishes and maintains a plan for improvement projects and activities based on input from local organization/identified potential areas for improvements•\tLicense to Operate/ Core Values: Ensure understanding of ABB’s core values and group safety and integrity standards and act accordingly. Implements and ensures compliance with the ABB code of conduct, global and local standards, tools, policies, regulatory compliance, and processes in their assigned area. Ensures adherence to all internal and statutory regulations and policies pertaining to the teams in scope. Accountable for the health and safety of all employees and contractors for the teams in scope, and continuous improvement in Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) processes and integrity performance.

Qualifications for the role

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field. 8+ years of overall industry experience. Proven experience as a Continuous Improvement Engineer or in a similar role.Strong understanding of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies. Experience in Lean Manufacturing, Lean Transformation, and Operational Excellence. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Proficiency in data analysis and statistical tools. Strong communication and team collaboration skills. Ability to train and mentor team members.Certified Six Sigma Green Belt or similar qualification is a plus. Must be committed in achieving Six Sigma Green Belt in 6 months from the start of this role and Black belt in 2 years of this role. Ability to interface effectively with end user customers, consultants, equipment suppliers and contractors.High level understanding of control systems setups.Understanding of Business & Operations Financial KPIs and able to analyze data. Problem analysis and problem resolution at both a strategic and functional level.Ability to organize and plan use of time and people effectively and efficiently.Full working knowledge of Lean Concepts with demonstrated success and proven ability to manage multiple change projects. Must be able to travel domestically and internationally if required for the improvement projects. This position can be in one of the two ABB CA locations: Calgary or Burlington.
