Continuous Visual Telemonitor - Evenings - 32 hours per week
The starting rate for this position is: $16.89 Rate of pay displayed reflects the beginning of the pay scale. Summary Under the general direction of the Clinical Nurse Manager, in accordance with the practice standards established by the Nursing Organization and by the specific unit/department in accordance with the rules, and regulations and/or standards established by the State Board of Nursing, Det Norske Veritas (DNV) Accreditation and appropriate specialty organizations relevant to the patient population under care of the Continuous Visual Telemonitor (CVT). Essential Duties and Responsibilities + Supports and promotes the mission and values of Covenant Health Ministry. + Capable of continuous monitoring of up to ten patients at one time and always remains alert while on duty + Communicates effectively with patients using a microphone and headset + Communicates with hospital staff and respond quickly to patient behavioral changes + Uses discretion and courtesy when working with patients, visitors, and staff + Efficiency in multitasking + Prioritizes simultaneous situations + Receive report on continuous visual monitoring candidate from RN. + Place patient under continuous visual monitoring only after receiving report from the RN. + Ensure that appropriate patient information is entered into the telemonitoring software correctly. + Document initiation of continuous visual telemonitoring on the patient log. + Perform hourly virtual rounds on the patients. Rounds include but are not limited to environmental safety evaluation and verbal communication with the patient if appropriate. + Continuously monitor patients and attempt to verbally redirect, as necessary. + Call floor staff directly via communication device if an issue arises with the patient that requires staff attention. + Activate Stat Alarm when a patient is not following direction, or the situation is emergent. + Initiate electronic privacy curtain upon request from clinical staff and follow up when the allotted time has expired. + Update status of the patient when patient is out of the room (POOR) and follow up with expected return times. + Documentation a. Events prevented in the Intervention Log within telemonitoring software (if applicable). b. Adverse events in the Adverse Event Log within telemonitoring software (if applicable). c. Patient's activities every - hours and PRN (hospital to insert method of documentation). + Assist Gatekeeper and other nurse leaders as appropriate in identifying patients that could potentially be removed from continuous telemonitoring. + Notify Gatekeeper of any available telemonitoring devices. + Provide report to oncoming floor and monitor staff regarding patient status and activity for the shift. Include notable behaviors or trends in overall patient activity. + Communication Escalation Plan: (insert hospital specific communication flow). + Upon completion of appropriate competencies related to patient companion, provides constant observation of behavioral and at-risk patients. + Other duties as consistent with this role. Job Requirements Job Knowledge and Skills + Basic computer operation skills + Basic Microsoft windows experience + Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) training preferred or obtained prior to completion of orientation Education and Experience + High school graduate or G.E.D preferred + Healthcare experience preferred + Licensed Nursing Assistant preferred + Geriatric or Mental Health experience preferred An equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed above may be substituted for the above education and experience requirements. Working Conditions/Physical Demands Must possess the physical and mental abilities to perform the tasks normally associated with this position that involves a combination of sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, and reaching. Occasional lifting/carrying up to 25 lbs. Some stress related to high level of responsibility for quality care.
