Contract Instructional Designer

The Instructional Designer is responsible for supporting GM Financial's learning needs across the organization. This individual will determine the best instructional strategies for training design, development, and delivery and carry out those strategies. This person will be responsible for internal department coordination to ensure consistency in creating training materials. This team member will determine documentation requirements and discuss with subject matter experts, information required to develop training materials. Responsibilities About the role: The Instructional Designer is responsible for supporting GM Financial's learning needs across the organization. This role involves consulting with internal customers from various business units to analyze, design, develop, deliver, and evaluate engaging learning experiences and graphic design solutions based on industry best practices and adult learning theory. The Instructional Designer will support the skill and competency development of employees and leaders to meet or exceed individual and team performance expectations and organizational business objectives. In this role you will: Partner with internal customers to evaluate performance gaps and organizational needs, recommending appropriate learning and graphic solutions through research and consultation. Write, design, and maintain content for engaging learning experiences, including design and curriculum plans, facilitator and participant materials, e-learning modules, job aids, activities, scenarios, and scripts. Create interactive and engaging content across multiple mediums, such as e-learning with gamification, microlearning, blended learning, classroom instruction, social learning, self-study, and virtual instructor-led learning solutions. Manage project plans, adhere to critical dates, and communicate progress to all relevant parties. Collaborate with internal customers and SMEs to determine project scope, milestones, curriculum, and content. Perform various administrative functions within the Learning Management System and Social Learning module as needed. Create compelling visual concepts within branding guidelines. Qualifications What makes you a dream candidate? Possess a working knowledge of the financial industry and the ability to understand GM Financial's core business functions. Required expertise in instructional design practices, adult learning theories Experience with development methodologies such as ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation) and Instructional Systems Design. Maintains a pulse on the future of learning including an ongoing knowledge of industry trends, tools, and technology. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Expertise with instructional design tools and technology. Proficiency in instructional design theories. Proficiency in learning development software, including Articulate 360, Vyond, Murf AI, and Adobe CC. Ability to incorporate diverse learning styles and account for learner modality preferences in design. Excellent project management and organizational skills, with strict attention to detail and the ability to meet tight deadlines. High learning agility and a continuous development mindset. Education and Experience Bachelor’s Degree Instructional Technologies, Education, Organizational Development, Education, Curriculum and Instruction, Instructional Design, Communication, or in related field or equivalent work experience required 2 years minimum in an educational, corporate training, or professional services environment, creating strategies and developing management, leadership, and executive level training solutions required Experience developing online self-paced and instructor led learning solutions preferred Experience creating impactful visual designs, including infographics, logos, newsletters, etc. preferred Our Culture: Our team members define and shape our culture — an environment that welcomes innovative ideas, fosters integrity, and creates a sense of community and belonging.
