Position Title: Specialist, Contract
Department: Purchasing
Purpose: The Clinical Contract Specialist will develop, negotiate, and maintain the contracts for Genesis Health System supplies and capital equipment pertaining to inpatient clinical areas. Provides leaders with information for operational and capital budgets as requested. Acts as a liaison with users to obtain items through Materials Services including stock and non-stock supplies and equipment. The Clinical Contract Specialist will assist in other non-clinical functions such as: special projects (such as renovation, facilities planning), data analysis, expense reduction, and customer support.
Report To: Manager, Purchasing
Supervisory Responsibility: Guidance: The job requires the provision of occasional guidance and training to others. The job does not have formal or official supervisory responsibilities.
Materials Responsibility: High: Work requires a high degree of responsibility for material resources. Examples of resources could include large operating or capital budgets for a large functional area, major plants, facilities or properties, or other equivalent material assets. The employee has a large amount of control over these resources. The cost of errors might result in significant financial loss and affect overall corporate results. The difficulty, variety and depth of problems associated with these material resources is moderately complex.

POSITION SPECIFICATION
Education: 4 year college/university degree or equivalent experience
Field Of Study: Nursing or Health Care Administration, or related field
Special Training: Familiarity with third-party reimbursement and budgeting principals; Keyboarding, Microsoft Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint, and Internet software experience
Training Preferred: Certification in area of specialty
Licensure/Registration:
Experience: More than 3 years experience required.
Interpersonal Skills: Interaction is with a variety of people inside or outside the organization. Communications are often difficult or stressful in nature. Contact with others involves complex, detailed and often sensitive topics. The job requires a high degree of interpersonal skills to deal with a range of complicated problem situations. Interactions involve gaining the agreement of others.
Working Conditions: There is limited exposure to moderately adverse and undesirable environmental conditions. There are some health and safety risks. Position may require safety equipment and precautions. The amount of time the employee may experience these moderate conditions is limited to 10% or less of their work day.
