Who We Are:

The Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (MassDEP) is the state agency responsible for ensuring clean air, land, and water, the safe management of toxics and hazards, the recycling of solid and hazardous wastes and the preservation of the state's wetlands and coastal resources.

Who We Serve:

Massachusetts was the first state in the nation to combine energy and environmental agencies under one Cabinet secretary. The Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs (EOEEA) serves Commonwealth residents interested in outdoor recreational activities, clean energy solutions and those who work with animals and livestock. Equally, EOEEA works with energy consumers, power companies, clean energy providers and farmers to delicately balance the interaction with environmental protection laws and regulations while being a cornerstone for our economic prosperity.

Position Summary

Enterprise Information Office

Enterprise Information Office (EIO) Data Analytics Reports/Dashboard Intern

The Enterprise Information Office is seeking an intern to collaborate with EIO staff to produce Microsoft Power BI Reports and Dashboards for selected MassDEP Bureaus and/or Programs. Through collaboration with EIO Microsoft Power BI experts and managers the intern will:

Meet with Program leaders to better understand data requirements for creation of reports/dashboardsAssist producing reports/dashboards using Power BI for Review and Refinement which may include development of front-end interface as well as data cleaning and modeling.Assist with User Training for DEP staff learning to use Microsoft Power BI

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with data analytics software including Microsoft Power BI/Power Query. Knowledge of query writing and basic coding languages.Ability to analyze and determine the applicability of data, to draw conclusions, and make appropriate recommendations. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
