Contracts Attorney
Description We are seeking an experienced Contracts Attorney with a minimum of 3+ years of legal experience to join a leading solar energy company. As a valued member of our legal team, you will play a key role in driving our mission to deliver sustainable energy solutions by providing critical legal oversight, drafting, negotiating, and managing a wide range of contracts across the organization. Key Responsibilities: + Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, including power purchase agreements (PPAs), engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) agreements, supply agreements, lease agreements, and other commercial contracts. + Provide legal advice and guidance to internal stakeholders on contract-related matters, including risk assessment and mitigation strategies. + Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and company policies governing renewable energy projects and contracting practices. + Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including project developers, finance, engineering, and operations, to support business objectives. + Assist in resolving disputes related to contracts, managing pre-litigation strategies, and engaging external counsel when necessary. + Stay up to date with industry regulations and developments impacting the solar energy sector. + Support corporate governance initiatives, such as compliance management and policy development. Requirements Qualifications: + Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school. + Active bar membership in good standing in at least one U.S. state. + Minimum of 3+ years of legal experience, ideally in an in-house or law firm setting focused on contract drafting and negotiation in the energy, utility, or construction industry. + Strong understanding of renewable energy (solar preferred) and related business models, transactions, and regulations. + Excellent negotiation, problem-solving, and communication skills. + Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. + Detail-oriented, organized, and capable of managing multiple priorities simultaneously. Preferred Qualifications: + Experience in renewable energy project development or financing. + Familiarity with regulatory frameworks such as FERC, state-level renewable energy requirements, and federal tax credits. + Knowledge of real estate transactions as they pertain to energy projects.
