Join our Thermo King Electrical Systems & Components Engineering team as a Control Algorithms Engineer supporting transport refrigeration system development! As a Control Algorithms Engineer, you will be contributing to global projects developing control algorithms for transport refrigeration units. A successful candidate will have a knowledge of control theory and an interest in learning how interactions with hardware, software, validation test, and systems engineering teams contribute to a successful product.

Where is the work: 

This position has been designated as a Hybrid work schedule with work performed onsite 3 days each week in Minneapolis, MN.

 

What you will do:   

Work with senior engineers to implement algorithms that meet the specifications derived from customer requirements and resolve field reported defects.Develop controller models for system-level control algorithms and logic that provide superior performance, enhance reliability, and provide predictive fault diagnostics.Develop unit and integration test plans for algorithms to ensure designs meet the requirements without introducing defectsWork with software development teams to integrate model-generated software into application software.Adhere to model development standards and processes.Stay up to date with the latest advancements in control systems and apply relevant knowledge to ongoing projects.Learn about physical products produced at Thermo King and apply domain knowledge to algorithm development.Participate in agile ceremonies to effectively plan development activities that deliver continuous customer valueFlag dependencies on other development teams at standups for resolutionEffectively identify and communicate risk to project lead for resolutionUnderstand backlog priorities to ensure development tasks are given the right priority to deliver value

 

What you will bring: 

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Computer Science and 1-3 years’ experience in controls, electronics, systems, or software engineering experience will be considered. Master’s Degree in Control Theory is strongly preferred.Understanding of model-based design processes and modeling & simulation of complex systems is required.Proficiency with Simulink and Stateflow is required.Understanding of control system design. Classical control knowledge required (PID control, linear control, digital filtering).Advanced control knowledge is a plus (modern control theory, model predictive control, non-linear control, adaptive control, fuzzy logic).Understanding of optimization techniques is a plus.Proficiency with Azure DevOps or other git hosting platforms is a plus.Knowledge in refrigeration, vapor compression, or thermodynamics/fluid dynamics is a plus.Knowledge in compressors, engines, or power electronics is a plus.

 

Compensation:   

Base Pay Range: $67,000 – 105,000

This base pay range is based on US national averages. Actual base pay could be a result of seniority, merit, geographic location where the work is performed.
