Position Purpose:

To control the day-to-day operation of the incineration plant to ensure that waste is processed at the required throughput levels and in accordance with the environmental permit.

Key Job Activities:

Control the operation of 2 x incineration lines by monitoring the control system data displays (SCADA) to ensure that air emissions limits are complied with, waste throughput targets are met, adequate combustion is maintained, pollution control systems and heat recovery systems are operating effectively.

Observe and adjust the incineration plant automated settings and waste loading regime within defined parameters as required to maintain compliant operation and the required waste throughput.

Take preventive and corrective action when required (including adjusting pollution control chemical dosing and waste loading regime) to ensure air emissions limits in the environmental permit are complied with at all times.

Complete and record shift logs, shift inspections and shift handovers to ensure that information related to operations, malfunctions and compliance is recorded and handed to the line management and the next shift.

Work with the site-based maintenance and waste loading teams to ensure that plant control malfunctions related to maintenance and waste loading are communicated then addressed promptly and effectively.

Report any permit non-compliances (including air emissions limit exceedances), incidents/accidents and good catches (near misses) immediately to line management.

Assist the maintenance team with first line breakdowns, fault finding and repairs, including participation in plant shutdowns as necessary.

Education: Experience (North America & LATAM):

High School or equivalent.

Experience (EMEAA):

3+ years of experience.

Good knowledge & understanding related to industrial processes with SCADA control systems.

Health & Safety champion.

Excellent record keeping.

Task management and team working.

Problem identification and solving.

IT software packages competent.

Preferred: Environmental permitting & awareness, Accident & investigation, Permit to work, Hazard identification & risk assessment, combustion / incineration processes, industrial processes, control systems.
