Control Systems Designer
Job Title: Electrical Designer

Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Electrical Designer to join our team. The ideal candidate will work closely with mechanical designers to design control systems that ensure machinery performs its functions safely and reliably. The role involves creating comprehensive electrical design packages, integrating third-party equipment, and continuously improving control technology integration methods.

ResponsibilitiesCollaborate with mechanical designers during the design process to ensure the control system meets safety and reliability standards.Create detailed electrical design packages, including schematics, cable routing diagrams, panel layouts, bills of materials, and material requisition forms.Work with the Controls Engineering Department and other groups to enhance safety, functionality, and reduce costs.Adhere to labor and material budgets while specifying all electrical and controls-related hardware and software.Integrate third-party equipment and electronic components into electrical designs.Ensure design packages are complete, accurate, and safe, and that I/O lists meet program requirements before issuing to the shop floor.Solve problems collaboratively with customers, project managers, designers, toolmakers, and electricians to deliver complete and functional systems.Provide customer training on electrical hardware, machine operation, programming principles, program functionality, and structure.Maintain high ethical standards and comply with the Code of Business Conduct.Follow all health and safety rules and procedures.Essential SkillsStrong knowledge of low-voltage distribution systems for automated machinery.Hands-on experience with EPLAN design software (EPLAN 2022 or later).Proficiency in electrical machinery standards, including NFPA 70/79 and UL 508A.Understanding of safety standards such as EN ISO.Ability to read, interpret, and apply customer-specific controls design standards.Experience with engineering design calculations, including full-load amperage, short-circuit current ratings, and panel heat loss/cooling assessments.Experience integrating third-party equipment, including vision systems, motion control products, and robots, into electrical designs.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience in robotics, product line pickups, low voltage control platforms, control logics/PLC, safety design, Ethernet architecture, I/O, UL Panel Design, servo integration, engineering, systems engineering, and wiring.Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $65.00/hr.
