We are looking for our next Control Systems Engineer at our Superior, WI location.  In this role, you provide design, implementation, and support services for process control, networking, and data communication systems used in Enbridge Liquids Pipeline system.  Join us today!

What You Will Do:

Design, coordinate and maintain process control, networking, and data communication systems required for pipeline system expansions and upgrades.

Directly handle or assist with the implementation of capital projects related to process control or data communication systems.

Provide technical support for the ongoing operation of installed systems.  This includes recommending solutions to operational issues and resolving problem reports.

Supply engineering services to project managers for capital projects with process control or data communication related components.

Provide on-call support.

Participate in failure analyses and investigations.

Find opportunities for further enhancements to the Enbridge control system through ongoing R&D, control system commissioning support and lessons learned analyses.

Lead or assist with capital budget submissions directed at maintaining and advancing Enbridge’s process control and data communication systems and enhancing the Department’s services related to these areas. This includes preparing cost estimates, execution strategies and case justifications for the submissions.

Represent the department on selected internal technical and review committees.

Establish working relationships with a cross-section of stakeholders within the company, equipment manufacturers, vendors, and services providers.

Who You Are:

You have the following education and experience:

4 years progressive control systems engineering experience, with significant knowledge of related technologies such as SCADA, instrumentation, electrical power, networking, cyber-security, and pipeline hydraulics.

Two- or four-year degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Technology, or equivalent from an accredited university or college.

Have a working knowledge and understanding of PLC hardware, PLC programming and related programmable devices.

Ability to consistently solve technical problems as they arise and make decisions on how a problem’s solution will impact the immediate problem and the system.

Be able to regularly shift between planned and unplanned activities, while remaining effective despite the resulting disruptive effects.

Proven capability to prioritize and manage multiple assignments and meet established deadlines while managing stakeholder expectations.

Ability to effectively interact with peers, internal stakeholders, vendors and service providers.

Ability to communicate optimally, both verbally and in written form. 

Strong written communications abilities, including good spelling and grammar.

Working Conditions:

The position operates in a generally safe work environment with a normal amount of physical effort.  The job also requires sitting at a computer for most of the time.

Frequent travel to regional offices, equipment installations or construction sites across the Liquids Pipeline system may be required at times.  (approximately 4-6 days/month)

Occasional work-generated disruptions to off-the-job personal activities.  This includes extended working hours or handling after-hours calls from field staff requesting technical assistance — sometimes on weekends or during night hours. (approximately 3-5 times per month).
