Control Systems Engineer Co-Op (Fall 2024)

We are seeking a motivated student to hire for our Controls Engineering Co-Op opportunity. You will be responsible for assisting our Argo engineers with controlling production processes using modern computerized process control systems and instrumentation. You will also be applying concepts learned in engineering and engineering-related classes to applications in the field.  

 

As the Controls Engineering Co-Op, your responsibilities will include: 

Being responsible for personal safety as well as the safety of any contractors working on projects with a goal of completing projects with zero safety or environmental incidents 

Becoming familiar with a production channel and the control systems employed on the channel, utilizing a Rockwell Control Logix PLC, Provox Control System, Alan Bradley, and/or DeltaV Control System 

Becoming familiar with process measurement and control devices, such as control valves and process transmitters 

Working with assigned project team and learning how to implement programming changes and tie in new field devices to the control system 

Utilizing alarm monitoring systems to analyze alarm frequencies, recommending improvements to alarm handling and implementing approved alarm changes 

Determining instrumentation installation requirements, control system software configuration requirements and working with team to see through the complete installation and configuration 

 

The Controls Engineering Co-Op position is well suited for you if you:

Qualified candidates will have: 

Progress towards a Bachelor’s degree program in Electrical/Computer Engineering, Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering with a minimum GPA of at least 3.0/4.0 preferred 

Ability to work 40hrs per week during the co-op term (August - December 2024

Skills and a demonstrated interest in computers and programming, with knowledge in one or more language preferred 

Ability to self-teach from manuals and documentation 

Ability to tackle problems, identify improvement opportunities, implement action plans and follow-up to ensure results 

Strong communication skills, with the ability to present technical information and prepare concisely written reports 

Proven analytical problem solving, multi-tasking, and time management skills 

Experience with PC Applications such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint 

 

To be eligible for consideration, candidates must: 

Currently possess unrestricted authorization to work in the United States. Ingredion does not intend to sponsor work visas with respect to this position or to provide this position as OPT or CPT. 

Be a currently enrolled student in a Bachelor’s Degree Program. If currently enrolled in an undergrad status, must have completed at least two years of coursework with status as a sophomore, junior or non-graduating senior.
