KBR is looking for a Control Systems Engineering Intern that will contribute to the Control System Engineering department by learning technical skills required for a CSE engineer while assisting in providing valuable deliverables for our customer’s projects.
What to expect: In the CSE department, as an intern, you will gain practical experience to understand what a day in the life of a CSE engineer looks like and perform tangible meaningful work to reinforce your skills as a CSE engineer while making an impact on real world customers.

Functional job responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
Responsible for compliance with Safety, Health and Environmental plan; must be committed to a high standard of safety and be willing and able to comply with all safety laws and all of the Company’s safety policies and rules and must be willing to report safety violations and potential safety violations to appropriate supervisory or management personnel
Responsible for compliance with the Quality Assurance Plan, policies and procedures
Attend customer site meetings and field walk downs
Validate and mark up P&ID’s to validate CSE engineering work
Write and support control narrative development
Assist in Functional Acceptance Testing
Support commissioning efforts either in Houston or on location at customer site
Develop I/O lists
Develop network layouts
Develop organizational savvy and relationship building skills to influence both internal and external resources, producing tangible results
Work with internal and external engineering resources to develop the required deliverables for the Engineering Stage Gate Process
Communicates and resolves technical issues as related to project assigned tasks
Successfully communicates with leadership, engineers, designers, document control, and all other departments
Ensures all project documentation for his/her own work is completed
Examples of work rotations:
Work routinely at a customer site assisting with site walk downs, verification of scope of work by walking down P&ID’s in the field and marking up any discrepancies, and support lead engineer to complete other project deliverables.
You will learn project engineering methodology, stage gate process, and what deliverables are specific to control systems engineering.
Assist senior designer in the development of network design for control systems. This will require use of AutoCAD and potentially Visio.
You will learn physical requirements and how to design a control system network
Support commissioning and start up at a customer site by walking the site and validate engineering deliverables are complete by performing field verifications and updating documentation to reflect the As-Build state or highlight inconsistencies and work to resolve them.
In this rotation, you will gave real world hands on site commissioning experience.
Support development of engineering deliverables ss part of the FEED (front end engineering and design) process including developing I/O lists, control narratives, and FAT test plans. This rotation could include attending and assisting with an FAT.
You will learn how to create deliverables for each stage of the FEED process.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills:
EDUCATION: working towards 4-year Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Chemical Engineering, Electrical, Computer Science preferred)
Completion of all discipline specific curriculum through Sophomore/2nd year
Strong knowledge of and use of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and AutoCAD
Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to interact with team members, clients, and stakeholders.
Problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to addressing project challenges.
Attention to detail and the ability to ensure project documentation is accurate and up to date.
