Control Systems Team Lead

About the position:

The Control Systems Team Lead is a supervisor role within the Chevron ENGINE Facilities Process Engineering team that provides control systems support to Chevrons Refineries and Liquified Natural Gas (LNG) assets. The Control Systems Lead provides leadership to a team of Control Systems Engineers to safely and reliably meet our complex processing assets control system availability, safety and reliability targets. This role reports to the Facilities Process Engineering Manager

Key Responsibilities

Supervise, coach, mentor, and develop Control Systems Engineers providing leadership and guidance on standard tools and processes

Sets clear expectations and support creation and management of individuals’ performance and development plans

Oversee a team that is responsible for

- Providing assurance and improvement in alarm performance across Process Control Systems (PCS), Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS), Field Equipment and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC’s)

- Exploring opportunities for alarm management improvements including managing code changes and supporting alarm rationalization utilizing the Alarm Objectives Analysis process (AOA)

- Producing Process Safety Alarm KPI's that measure and report on key metrics such as Alarm Frequency, Standing Alarms, Shelved Alarms and alarm floods

- Ensuring effective alarm suppression techniques are applied to minimize alarm flooding during abnormal situations or communication failures

- Performing routine assurance activities on alarm suitability, responses, frequency, appropriate usage of suppression/shelving

- Implementing standardized and centralized alarm and data management using tools such as Hexagon PSI Application

- Interfacing with CCR Roles, Instrumentation and Control Engineers, Maintenance, and Operations

Required Qualifications:

10-15 years’ experience providing controls systems technical support in a hydrocarbon or similar complex processing facility operating environment, preferred

Demonstrated ability to lead functional teams supporting complex process facilities Engineering leadership experience

Bachelor’s degree in relevant engineering discipline (Process, Instrumentation, Electrical, Mechanical) from a recognized (AICTE) university

Exceptional organizational and communication skills

Experience in mentoring, coaching, and training is preferred
