BWXT is looking for a Controller, Southern Sites to join our team in Lynchburg, VA!
The Controller, Southern Sites oversees the financial operations of all southern sites in our Nuclear Operations Group. The Controller’s responsibilities include analyzing financial data, creating budgets, and providing accurate financial reports to management. The Controller will collaborate with other departments to minimize production costs and maximize profits while ensuring compliance with all financial policies and government regulations. This position has a segment-wide scope of responsibility and influence with stakeholders across multiple locations and organizational levels domestically. This position will lead a team of twelve (12) finance and accounting employees.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities:
Plans, directs, and reviews the overall accounting department operations and activities.
Performs staff planning, performance reviews, and budgeting functions for the department.
Develops policies and procedures for the accounting department.
Directs the execution of the financial accounting cycle.
Designs, develops, and implements financial systems and their modifications and enhancements.
Reviews and monitors compliance with company policies and governmental regulations.
Generates the company's financial reports in a timely manner.
Evaluates and assesses all phases of the capital assets program.
Ensures financials are prepared in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), and Cost Accounting Standards (CAS).
Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
Must have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
Must have a minimum of ten (10) years or relevant experience.
Experience applying industry best practices related to forecasting and project analysis.
Experience with SAP, Onestream, Power BI, and advanced Excel are a plus.
Ability to interpret and apply company guidelines, SOX, GAAP, and government regulations.
Must be able to demonstrate superior written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
Must be highly initiative-taking and directed, with keen attention to detail.
Proven analytical and creative problem-solving abilities.
Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a rapidly changing environment.
Ability to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
Must be a U.S. citizen with no dual citizenship.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy (DOE) security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
CPA license or MBA degree.
Pay: $132,000 - $203,000
The base salary range for this position in VA at the start of employment is expected to be between $132,000 and $203,000 per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors, and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided at such time the selected job candidate receives an offer of employment. If hired, the selected job candidate will be employed 'at-will,’ unless employed at a location and in a position subject to a collective bargaining agreement. The company further reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment, compensation or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, company or individual department/team performance, and other market factors.
