Job Title: Controller
Job Description

The Controller manages the daily operations of the accounting team and coordinates financial activities in alignment with the company's financial plan. This role requires expertise in reviewing end-to-end financial operations and a proven ability to drive process and system improvements. The Controller will act as a change agent, seeking innovative ways to enhance team performance and business operations while aligning with the company's vision and goals.

ResponsibilitiesEnsure accuracy of all general ledger accounts to issue timely and complete financial statements.Prepare financial reports and statements by gathering and analyzing information from the appropriate finance systems.Analyze results and report variances against budget and expectations, recommending corrective actions.Calculate and issue financial metrics and generate monthly bank borrowing base.Manage activities related to the company's audited financial statements.Oversee daily operations of the Finance Department and supervise Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable Managers.Perform Quarterly Development Conversations.Approve large dollar customer credits and review construction accounting documents, including AIA billings and lien releases.Ensure accounts payable are paid on time and all available discounts are taken.Ensure all local, state, and federal taxes are paid.Maintain fixed asset and lease schedules, set up leases, and coordinate termination or renewal.Prepare annual property tax returns and ensure periodic bank reconciliations are completed.Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures and a system of controls over accounting transactions.Drive and recommend system or process improvements for financial management activities.Oversee sales tax audits and assist in the budgeting process.Respond to CFO requests with accurate and timely work and participate in special projects and compile special reports.Essential SkillsBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.Minimum of 7-10 years of progressive accounting experience managing end-to-end financial operations.Experience in a supervisory role, overseeing Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable Managers.Proficiency in accounting software and financial systems.Strong knowledge of general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process.Familiarity with fixed asset management and lease accounting.Proficiency in preparing and analyzing financial statements and reports.Knowledge of internal controls and accounting policies and procedures.Additional Skills & QualificationsCPA or CMA certification preferred.Experience with financial reporting, variance analysis, and financial metrics calculation.Experience in construction accounting, including AIA billings and lien releases, is a plus.Work Environment

The position is based in an office setting in Niantic, CT, with a flexible first shift schedule from Monday to Friday. The role allows for one day a week of remote work. The team size is approximately 15, and the Controller will report to the CFO. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $90000.00 - $115000.00/yr.
