Overview of Primary Duties:
+ Manage the day-to-day accounting operations for all locations to ensure all transactions are recorded compliance with dealership accounting processes and policies.
+ Ensure all manufacturer accounts, including warranty claims, rebates, co-op advertising, etc. are current and accurate.
+ Manage the accumulation and consolidation of all financial data necessary for accurate accounting.
+ Monitor receivables and ensure timely collection. Obtain reports from respective departments regarding collectability and monitor bad debt for both allowance and write off thresholds.
+ Prepare AR risk assessment and communicate with departments managers.
+ Prepare or review all monthly reconciliations for vendor statements. Research reconciling items and work with the proper parties to correct in a timely manner.
+ Accurately review bank reconciliations.
+ Develop and maintain effective cash management system to report daily snap shot and weekly/monthly forecasting.
+ Communicate cash needs and trends to CFO and owners.
+ Review dealership schedules (parts received not invoiced, inventory, destination fee payable, sublet,etc.) maintain final, cleansed copies of each at month end.
+ Accurately close each month by given deadline. Close routines include, but are not limited to, reviewing all balance sheet and income statement accounts for accuracy, post accruals as needed, Post depreciation and reconcile assets and cleanse Motility audit reports.
+ Produce final financial statements for all locations post close by given deadline.
+ Maintain reconciliations for all balance sheet accounts including prepaids, accrual accounts, assets,and liabilities.
+ Post depreciation and reconcile assets on financial statement monthly.
+ Perform or assign regular asset assessments at locations to ensure all are properly accounted for.
+ Interpret and analyze financial statements for accuracy and opportunity.
+ Assist CFO with intercompany reconciling as assigned.
+ Perform regular internal audits and communicate with external audit team to ensure accuracy and compliance.
+ Work with external partners such as audit team, banking, insurance, floor-plan, etc. to maintain business relationship.
+ Prepare documents for external auditors as directed by the CFO.
+ Communicate financial results with appropriate leadership and advise on strategies to reduce expense and maximize profitability.
+ Assist with hiring, training and retaining skilled accounting staff.
+ Work with training department to develop training material for all accounting SOPs. Ensure all accounting staff receives initial training and regular follow-up training as needed based on performance.
+ Ensure all accounting personnel and local office associates are using proper accounting procedures and maintaining accurate records.
+ Assess current accounting operations, offer recommendations for improvement and assist in implementation of new processes as adopted.
+ Offer suggestions to internal software team for future development of efficient dealership accounting program that may improve accounting processes via technology utilization.
+ Develop weekly accounting meeting schedule to review business matters, training opportunities and goal progression.
+ Create and/or maintain centralized accounting documents such as chart of accounts and standard operating procedures.
+ Evaluate all dealership internal controls, including accounting, and offer insight to tighten controls to control leakage and hold relevant associates accountable.
+ Prepare and provide reports, or request for additional information on a timely basis or by deadline, if given, by the CFO.
+ Maintain financial records and reporting to include budgets, forecasts, actual performance and variance reports against operational KPIs.
+ Prepare and provide ales and expense analyses for all departments at each location.
+ Assist dealership managers and leadership with financial statement understanding to both interpret reports and create action plans as needed to improve the organization.
+ Develop proficiency with DMS (Motility), Excel and Google sheets and drive to become the go-toperson for all related issues.
Requirements
• Education: Bachelor’s degree or above in accounting or relevant experience
• Experience: 5 years of dealership accounting experience
• Licenses/Certifications: CPA strongly preferred
