Controller
Description We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Controller in Norfolk, Virginia. The role involves managing financial activities and providing analytical support for our manufacturing operations. The incumbent will also handle accounting activities and will be required to travel occasionally. The position is based in our manufacturing site and doesn't entail remote work. Responsibilities: • Conduct financial analysis and reporting for manufacturing operations, including cost analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis. • Complete month-end close for manufacturing sites while reviewing and approving journal entries. • Evaluate manufacturing processes, identify areas for cost reduction, and propose recommendations to improve operational efficiency. • Work with General Managers & Plant Managers to develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track financial performance and operational metrics. • Assist in the development and maintenance of standard costs for manufacturing products, ensuring accuracy and relevance. • Update standard labor rates annually to ensure accuracy in both costing and quoting activities. • Participate in the budgeting and strategic planning process for the manufacturing department, providing financial insights and recommendations. • Prepare financial models and scenarios to support decision-making on capital investments, capacity expansion, and process improvements. • Collaborate with Supply Chain Management to support monitoring of inventory levels and analysis on inventory turnover. • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including operations, procurement, and finance, to drive cost reduction initiatives and process improvements. • Stay current on industry trends, best practices, and regulatory changes impacting the manufacturing and financial landscape. Requirements • Possess a minimum of five years of relevant experience as a Controller • Proficient in 3M, Crystal Reports, and CRM • Expertise in using Accounting Software Systems • Familiarity with ADP - Financial Services • Demonstrable knowledge of accounting functions • Proficient in managing Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) • Experience in auditing and budget processes • Ability to work independently and as part of a team • Strong written and verbal communication skills • Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field required • Professional certification such as CPA or CMA is a plus.
