Controller
Description We are in search of a Controller based in Denver, Colorado to join a local Mechanical Construction Company. The Controller will be responsible for overseeing daily accounting operations, preparing financial statements, and ensuring compliance with accounting principles and regulations. This role is instrumental in managing financial strategies that align with the business goals and fostering a culture of continuous improvement within the accounting team. Responsibilities: • Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger functions for accurate financial reporting and tracking. • Prepare financial statements, budgets, and forecasts to guide business decisions. • Regularly reconcile accounts to ensure compliance with accounting principles and regulations. • Develop and implement financial policies and procedures to improve efficiency and accuracy. • Assist in the preparation of tax returns and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. • Collaborate with the management team to develop financial strategies that align with the company’s goals. • Provide training and support to accounting staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement. • Support project managers with budgeting and financial analysis for ongoing and upcoming projects. • Participate in strategic planning and contribute to discussions regarding company growth and profitability. • Manage and maintain accounting software systems for accurate financial reporting and tracking, including QuickBooks and other related systems. • Oversee the month-end close process, audit functions, and sales tax procedures. • Supervise management functions, ensuring the efficient operation of the accounting department. Requirements Qualifications: + Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance. + Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Controller or in a similar role, ideally within a small construction or mechanical company. + Proficient in QuickBooks; experience with additional accounting software is a plus. + Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and compliance regulations. + Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills. + Ability to communicate complex financial information clearly and effectively. + Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities. + Strong leadership skills with a focus on team collaboration.
