Description We are offering an exciting opportunity in the transport industry based in WATERVLIET, Michigan. We are seeking a Controller to oversee and manage our financial functions. In this role, you will be responsible for the daily financial operations including accounting, reporting, planning, analysis, and budget development.
Responsibilities:
• Oversee the financial close and streamline the month-end close
• Initiate cross-functional projects to implement recommended solutions
• Establish and coordinate implementation of accounting and GAAP accounting control policies and procedures
• Deliver monthly performance analyses and maintain the three-year financial plan
• Analyze financial information and prepare financial reports
• Document and analyze business transactions
• Oversee the preparation of balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other reports to summarize the company’s current and projected financial position
• Collaborate with department heads to develop and implement business plans, strategic initiatives, and operating priorities
• Develop and oversee proactive reporting and analysis of key performance indicators, sales, margin, and expense drivers
• Collaborate with leadership in future-year planning and strategy activities
• Manage all business investments and corresponding ROI. Requirements • Minimum of 7 years of experience in the transport industry or a similar field.
• Proficiency in 3M, Accounting Software Systems, ADP - Financial Services, CRM, and Crystal Reports.
• Demonstrated knowledge of accounting functions including Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), and auditing.
• Experience with budget processes is necessary.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make decisions under pressure.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
• Must have a proactive attitude and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
• A degree in finance, business, or related field is preferred.
• Fluency in English is required.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the country where the job is located.
