With the belief that they were there when we needed them, so we must be there now that they need us, Veterans Inc., the largest provider of supportive services to Veterans and their families in New England, is seeking to fill the Controller position and become a valued member of Veterans Inc. team!\n

Under the general direction of the VP of Finance, Development, and Administration, the Controller is responsible for the accounting operations of the company, to include the production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the company's reported financial results, and ensures that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles or international financial reporting standards.\n

This individual would be based out of 69 Grove Street, Worcester, MA 01605. All duties would be performed throughout the designated territory's surrounding cities and towns within the state.\n

WHAT YOU'LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR DAY TO DAY:\n

Supervision of designated staff\n\nResponsible for timely performance reviews for all staff and developing goals with staff input. \nResponsible for coordinating with human resources regarding disciplinary measures, employee relations and employee training and development. \nResponsible for authorizing and approving staff time, attendance and reimbursement requests as set forth in Veterans Inc. policy and procedures. \n\n

General Accounting:\n\nEnsures the integrity of accounting information by recording, verifying, consolidating, and entering transactions.\nPrepares and records asset, liability, revenue, and expenses entries by compiling and analyzing account information.\nPrepare month-end closing, reporting, and prepare quarterly financial reports for Board of Directors.\nConsistently analyze financial data and present financial reports in an accurate and timely manner.\nClearly communicate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements; monitor progress and changes; updates CEO\/President and Vice President of Veterans Inc. financial status.\nEstablish quarterly allocation schedules including allocation of payables, payroll, fringe benefits and taxes.\nMonitor and manage cash flow and prepare reports.\nPrepare financial reports, year-end inventory, and other reports as needed.\nPrepare annual reports (SF425, etc.) for government funders.\nPrepare the annual budget of the organization by location.\nPrepare and file Annual Reports, Certificates of Solicitation, and other reports as needed across all states where Veterans Inc. operates.\nAssist with oversight and approval of accounts receivable billings and cash draws to various funders.\nAssists with review of payables to ensure proper allocation.\nOversight and assistance with preparation of financial portion of quarterly reports for government funders as needed.\nOversight and assistance with provision of grant spending reports for distribution to program managers.\nOversight and assistance with grant budget modifications as needed.\nEnsure proper recording of all grants, contracts, and agreements in the accounting system to ensure that expenditures are consistently aligned with grant and program budgets throughout the grant\/fund period.\nWorks closely with outside accountants on Annual Audit, UFR and 990. \n\n

Other Accountabilities:\n\nProtects business operations by keeping financial, grant and business information confidential.\nContributes to the mission of Veterans Inc. by collaborating across all levels of the organization to accomplish related results as needed.\nResponsible for project accounting and assisting with resource allocation, project planning and scheduling, and ensuring compliance. \nAssists in special projects as assigned by supervisor, President\/CEO, and\/or Executive Director. \nOther duties as assigned.\n\n

WHAT YOU MUST HAVE:\n\nMinimum of bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related field required. CPA preferred.\nMinimum of five (5) years of experience in accounting. \nMinimum of two (2) years of management or supervisory experience.\nDocumented experience coordinating audit activities and managing reporting, budget development and analysis, accounts payable and receivable, general ledger and payroll.\nExperience in grants management as it relates to compliance and reporting of government, corporate and foundation grants is highly preferred.\nMust be able to successfully pass a CORI\/Background records check.\nCompliance with Veterans Inc. COVID-19 Vaccination Policy. Religious and Medical Exemptions are considered.\n\n
