Position Overview and Application Preferences

The Controller will assist with oversight of the full cycle accounting process. This includes understanding and compliance with established accounting principles, practices, and procedures, and regulatory compliance with the Sarbanes-Oxley Act and related federal and state laws. This is not a remote work position.

Accounts Payable / Accounts Receivable

Duties and Responsibilities

Accounting support – calculate journal entries with data from system generated reports or other sources for a variety of general ledger accounts Reconciliations – maintain reconciliations for a variety of general ledger accounts Financial reporting – assist with preparation of financial statements, monthly accruals, bank reconciliations, and distribution of various internal reports Monthly WIP review and processing related adjustments Review and approve data compiled by other departments as part of monthly close process Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual tax preparation Creating and implementing financial policies and procedures Ensuring compliance with applicable policies, laws and regulations Monitoring and protecting the organization’s assets and financial condition Regularly collaborating with payroll, HR, AR, AP, and operations personnel to improve processes and maximize process efficiency Provide backup to critical accounting functions, including payroll Internal Audits from Parent Company Other duties will likely be assigned

Required Skills/Abilities:

Excellent organizational, analytical, numerical, verbal, and written communication Ability to effectively communicate with other internal departments and external parties Ability to effectively manage time and prioritize tasks, both personally and for supervised staff Ensure departmental deadlines are met and objectives are achieved Must demonstrate integrity, honesty, professionalism, and appropriate concern regarding dissemination of sensitive and confidential information. Ability to create, file, and maintain electronic documents. Proficient with Microsoft Office applications and payroll and accounting software Must demonstrate commitment to company values, goals, and objectives.

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in accounting Advanced Excel experience Working knowledge of construction accounting preferred Viewpoint Vista software experience a plus CPA or CPA candidate a plus

 Language Skills

 Must have the demonstrated ability to effectively communicate in English, cooperate, and collaborate with multiple levels of customer, employees, unions, government agencies, vendors and suppliers, and other contractor organizations.
