Description
Robert Half Finance and Accounting and Kevin Sweet have partnered with a small national manufacturing and distribution organization for a newly created Controller position.
The Controller will be responsible for overseeing the financial operations of the company, ensuring the accuracy of financial records, managing day-to-day accounting functions, providing strategic insights for financial decision-making, ensuring accurate financial reporting and efficient operations. The ideal candidate will be hands on, have a strong background in accounting, excellent organizational skills, be a self-stater and enjoys partnering with operations.

Key Responsibilities:
• Manage the daily financial operations of the company, focusing on AP and AR.
• Process and manage vendor invoices, ensuring all payments are made accurately and in a timely manner.
• Handle customer invoicing, ensuring all invoices are accurate and dispatched on time.
• Reconcile accounts payable to statements, resolving any discrepancies.
• Monitor overdue accounts and work with customers to resolve any issues.
• Utilize QuickBooks for daily accounting functions, including AP, AR, journal entries, and financial reporting.
• Ensure all transactions are recorded accurately in QuickBooks and reconcile bank statements.
• Generate monthly financial statements, including profit and loss, balance sheet, and cash flow reports.
• Assist in the preparation of month-end and year-end closing processes.
• Maintain accurate records of all financial transactions.
• Provide monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports to management.
• Analyze financial data to identify trends, issues, and opportunities for cost control and revenue improvement.
• Ensure compliance with accounting policies, internal controls, and industry standards.
• Assist with tax filings and other regulatory requirements, as needed.
• Oversee payroll using Paylocity.
• Support financial audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
• Assist in budgeting and forecasting processes.
Qualifications:
+ Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA designation is preferred.
+ 7+ years of progressive accounting experience
+ Strong knowledge of QuickBooks and proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
+ Experience with financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and tax compliance.
+ Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
+ Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
+ Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Requirements • Minimum of 7 years of experience in a Controller role or similar
• Proficiency in Accounting Functions
• Expertise in handling Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR)
• Extensive experience in Auditing and Budget Processes
• Proven track record of managing Month End Close and Month-end Close Activities
• Ability to prepare Month-end Journal Entries
• Experience in Monthly Account Reconciliation and Monthly Accruals
• Ability to analyze Financial Statements effectively
• Experience in Financial Statement Preparation
• Ability to manage Payroll for 101 - 500 Employees
• Proficiency in QuickBooks and Paylocity software
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
• Excellent communication and leadership skills
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (preferred)
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification (preferred)
