Kforce has a mission driven, not-for-profit client that is seeking a Controller to join their team in New Haven County, CT. General Function: * Oversee daily accounting and financial functions for a not-for-profit organization * Manage general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, grants, fixed assets, taxes, investments, and financial reporting * Collaborate with branch staff to ensure accurate financial records * Support CFO with management information system functions * Handle financial reporting for housing projects and related entities Essential Duties and Responsibilities: * Supervise accounting functions, including reconciliations and compliance * Oversee accounts payable, payroll, and grant reporting * Ensure timely, accurate monthly/annual closings, audits, and financial reports * Drive process improvement and build out of the organization's financial policies and procedures * Analyze and recommend cost-efficiency improvements * Maintain tax compliance and ensure accurate financial documentation * Develop and enforce financial policies and procedures * Serve as a liaison for audits and advocate for a paperless environment
