Controller
Description We are offering a short-term contract employment opportunity for a Controller. This is a remote position with the need to go in office on an as needed basis. The Controller level candidate will work closely with the Executive Director in overseeing AP, AR and Payroll, while closing the books monthly, preparing financial statements and any other items requested by the board. The ideal Controller must have prior experience working with limited direction, have QuickBooks experience, and prior nonprofit / federal grant experience is highly desirable. Responsibilities: • Oversee Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) operations to ensure accuracy and timeliness. • Conduct regular account reconciliations, including bank account and balance sheet reconciliations. • Review and approve payroll. • Complete the month-end close process, including posting all journal entries. • Prepare accurate and timely financial statements as part of the month-end close process. • Manage the general ledger, ensuring all entries are accurate and up-to-date. • Perform budgeting and forecasting activities to aid in financial planning. • Handle grant accounting tasks, particularly those related to federal grants. • Utilize QuickBooks for various accounting functions. • Ensure all accounting tasks are performed in compliance with our organization's policies and procedures Requirements • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role. • Proficiency in using QuickBooks. • Hands on experience with Journal Entries, Month-End Close, and Financial Statement Preparation. • Non-Profit experience, specifically Grant Accounting is highly desirable. • Proficiency in Budgeting and Forecasting • Bachelor's Degree in accounting, business or related field.
