Description We are seeking a Controller for our education institution located in San Antonio, Texas. As a Controller, you will be accountable for various financial management tasks, including the development and maintenance of financial policies, procedures, and controls. This role involves comprehensive financial record keeping and reporting, which requires a keen eye for detail and a strong understanding of regulatory requirements. Responsibilities: • Oversee the enforcement of university financial policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. • Handle the administration of grants and contracts for research, workshops, institutes, and other special instructional projects. • Generate timely and accurate financial reports reflecting the financial status of the university and its related entities. • Identify and report financial improprieties, coordinating with finance areas to support investigations and report results to stakeholders. • Manage tuition and fee assignments, collections, and reporting in accordance with authorized fee schedules and policies. • Monitor the university's outstanding debt and ensure debt covenants are met. • Oversee cash management to improve financial stability, support growth initiatives, and enhance fiscal health. • Prepare and review regular financial reports, including cash flow projections, budget variance analysis, and financial statements. • Assure timely and accurate filing of tax returns in compliance with regulatory requirements. • Serve as a liaison to ensure related entities operate in accordance with sound business practices and regulations. • Ensure financial activities and reporting are conducted efficiently and accurately. • Oversee the completion of financial audits in compliance with financial reporting requirements. • Ensure procurement services are in compliance with institutional, local, state, and federal regulations. • Mitigate financial risks through compliance, regulatory reporting, and safeguarding of assets. • Prepare and present financial information to various boards as needed. • Manage operational risks and opportunities. • Use financial systems to support the needs of the accounting department. • Provide leadership, support, training, and 'detail oriented' development to managers and staff. • Authorize and approve agreements in the absence of the Vice President for Administrative Services. • Provide support to the Vice President for Administrative services. Requirements • A minimum of 10 years of experience in a similar role within the education sector, preferably in a university setting. • Proficiency in 3M, a vital tool for effective management and processing of information. • Extensive experience with accounting software systems to streamline financial operations and ensure accuracy. • Familiarity with ADP - Financial Services for efficient payroll and employee data management. • Competence in CRM and Crystal Reports, necessary for effective customer relationship management and reporting purposes respectively. • Comprehensive understanding of accounting functions, including but not limited to financial reporting, tax planning, and management of financial records. • Experience in handling Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) to ensure smooth financial transactions and record-keeping. • Proven track record in auditing, ensuring compliance with financial regulations and identifying areas for improvement. • Practical knowledge of budget processes, including planning, implementation, and monitoring, to ensure fiscal responsibility.
