Description Job Title: Controller Location: Houston, TX Industry: Non-profit Non-profit organization in Houston is seeking an experienced Controller to join their team. The ideal candidate will hold a CPA certification, possess multi-entity experience, and be capable of leading a team of 5 accounting professionals. This role is responsible for overseeing all financial activities, ensuring compliance with regulations, and optimizing financial operations to support the organization's mission. Controller Responsibilities: + Oversee all financial operations, including accounting, budgeting, and financial reporting for the organization and its multiple entities. + Lead and mentor a team of 5 accounting staff, providing guidance and fostering a collaborative work environment. + Ensure accurate and timely month-end close processes, including financial statements, reconciliations, and variance analysis. + Manage and monitor cash flow, ensuring proper fund allocation across multiple entities. + Coordinate with external auditors and ensure timely completion of audits and other regulatory requirements. + Develop and implement financial policies, procedures, and controls to maintain financial health and ensure regulatory compliance. + Collaborate with leadership to support strategic initiatives, including budget planning, forecasting, and financial analysis. + Utilize accounting software (Yardi experience is a plus) to streamline financial processes and reporting. Requirements Controller Requirements: + CPA certification required. + Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; advanced degree preferred. + 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role. + Experience managing accounting operations for multi-entity organizations, preferably in the non-profit sector. + Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting requirements. + Exceptional leadership and communication skills, with the ability to manage, motivate, and develop a high-performing team. + Experience with accounting software; Yardi experience is a plus. + Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
