Controller
Description We are in the market for a Controller to bolster our team based in San Francisco, California. The Controller will play a critical role in our organization, managing and overseeing all aspects of our accounting functions. This role is instrumental in the implementation and management of our accounting software systems and CRM, as well as the execution of auditing and budget processes. Key Responsibilities: Coordination with External Service Providers: + Manage relationships with: + PEO/co-employer firm (for payroll, general ledger, accounts payable/receivable) + CPA/auditing firm (for tax functions) + Banking partners + 401k plan administrators + Insurance brokers + Lead transition of accounting functions from PEO/co-employer firm to internal administration. Financial Oversight: + Maintain accounting records, financial files, and related documents. + Collaborate with external providers to reconcile bank statements and ensure accurate general ledger. + Handle tax-related matters, ensuring compliance with laws and regulations. Advisory and Policy Implementation: + Provide financial advice to company leadership via email or phone. + Implement and ensure compliance with updated accounting policies and evolving standards. Process Improvements and Reporting: + Work with CFO to optimize financial workflows. + Prepare and manage financial reports as needed. Compliance and Licensing: + Apply for and maintain local business licenses in California jurisdictions. Requirements xperience: + 8+ years of full-cycle accounting and payroll experience. + Prior experience in professional services industry. Technical Knowledge: + Proficient in QuickBooks and Microsoft Office, especially Excel. Education: + Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (or similar field) required. + Master’s degree or CPA is a plus. Additional Attributes: + Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. + Ability to work independently in a remote setting.
