Arizona Central Credit Union is searching for an experienced Controller to join our accounting team.
Role:
The controller is responsible for providing oversight to the accounting functions of the Credit Union, managing accounting records and production of financial reports. The position plays a critical role in ensuring efficiency in the areas of accounts payable and receivable, GL reconciliations, and accurate reporting of key financial results for the Credit Union.
Summary of Job Functions and Responsibilities:
+ Oversees regular balancing of accounts and journal entries, and reconciliation of general ledger items related to month-end procedures. Ensures income statement and balance sheet are accurate and complete. Monitors the GL reconciliation process by team members, ensuring GLs are balanced according to GAAP and outstanding issues are identified and addressed.
+ Oversees A/P functions, ensures accurate and timely payment processing and develops and maintains an adequately trained A/P staff.
+ Supports the Accounting team by providing analysis and assistance with responsibilities and preparing financial and accounting reports and related documents for senior management and the Board of Directors.
+ Research variances to planned expenditures and assist with expense management.
+ Maintains a documented system of accounting policies and procedures; implements a system of controls over accounting transactions to minimize risk.
+ Implement and maintain the calculation of the Allowance for Loan Losses based on accounting and regulatory guidelines.
+ Ensure compliance with CECL guidelines for financial reporting.
+ Maintain vendor relations to ensure proper information and calculation of data is conducted and provided for monthly financial and accounting statements.
+ Monitors operating results relative to established objectives and ensures that appropriate steps are taken to correct unsatisfactory performance. Ensures compliance with established credit union plans, policies and procedures.
+ Works with internal and external auditors and provides needed information for audits.
Experience: Eight years of similar or related experience.
Education: Four-year College Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or similar field. Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant designation highly preferred.
