Description Are you a finance professional with strong leadership skills and a passion for serving mission-driven organizations? Our client, a leading nonprofit in the education sector, is seeking a Controller to join their team. This role is an excellent opportunity to oversee financial operations and directly contribute to meaningful work supporting educational programs that make a difference in the community. Key Responsibilities + Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and reconciliations. + Lead the preparation of annual budgets, financial forecasts, and cash flow projections. + Ensure accurate grant accounting and compliance with donor and regulatory requirements. + Produce timely and accurate financial reports for leadership and the board of directors. + Manage the annual audit process and liaise with external auditors. + Evaluate and improve internal financial systems, processes, and controls. + Supervise and mentor the finance team, ensuring alignment with organizational goals. + Maintain compliance with GAAP and nonprofit regulations. + Collaborate with leadership and program directors to support strategic decision-making. Requirements + Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA preferred (MBA is a plus). + 7+ years of accounting experience, with 3+ years in a leadership role; nonprofit experience and fund accounting preferred. + Proficiency in accounting systems (e.g., QuickBooks Nonprofit, Blackbaud) and advanced Excel skills. + Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
