Description
We are offering an exciting opportunity for a VP Controller to join our team, with a requirement to be present in our South San Francisco, California office 4-5 days a month. In this role, you will be overseeing the entire Accounting process from preparation for IPO down the road (must have prior IPO experience), review financial reports, managing audits and ensuring compliance with accounting standards.
Responsibilities:
• Prepare company for IPO when timing is correct
• Manage and oversee the preparation and filing of financial statements in accordance with SEC regulations
• Develop and implement internal control policies and procedures to ensure the accuracy of financial reporting
• Coordinate and oversee external audits to ensure their timely and accurate completion
• Oversee general accounting, cost accounting, and other technical accounting activities
• Continually evaluate and oversee monthly and quarterly closing processes for accuracy
• Work with the finance team to develop and monitor budgets, forecasts, and financial plans
• Ensure compliance with all applicable accounting standards (GAAP/IFRS) and regulatory requirements
• Administer the company’s stock administration processes and manage stock compensation compliance and reporting
• Lead and mentor the accounting team, fostering an atmosphere of continuous improvement and detail-oriented development
• Collaborate with executive leadership in financial analysis to support decision-making and strategic planning aligned with business objectives
• Evaluate and enhance financial systems and processes to improve efficiency and scalability.
Requirements
• Must possess a minimum of 7 years of experience in a Controller role from Biotech industry.
• Experience in preparing a company for IPO.
• Proficiency in using NetSuite is necessary.
• Prior experience in a Big 4 Accounting Firm.
• The candidate should demonstrate strong analytical skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills are required.
• The candidate should have a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
