Overview/Function: The Controller works with the CFO to manage the company’s key accounting functions, including monthly, quarterly, and annual financials. They play an active role preparing, analyzing, and interpreting financial data for each of the nine branches, the corporate division, and on consolidated basis. They conduct statutory and risk audits, ensure compliance, and work with the CFO to make recommendations which help the company to develop and monitor its business strategies while minimizing risk. Major Responsibilities: + Prepare various accurate financial reports (i.e. weekly, monthly, quarter, annual, ad-hoc), ledgers, financial statements, and balance sheets. + Responsible for the month-end close process. Duties include developing & recording entries, account reconciliations, and variance analysis. + Manage consolidated financials. + Analyze and interpret financial data, looking at trends or concerns, advising leadership and providing viable recommendations. (i.e. production or delivery cost analysis, cash flow, sales, etc.) + Help conduct financial modelling, including quarterly forecasts. + Key individual in the budget preparation process. + File various sales, use, income tax returns, and other regulatory filings for the company. + Oversee and conduct internal audits and compliance testing. + Oversee the annual financial audit. + Establish and maintain controls which verify the integrity of all related systems, processes, and data. + Regularly work with internal teams to achieve business and sales strategies. + Coordinate and prioritize financial-related projects. + Monitor and evaluate costing data, and develop strategies to maximize cost in all areas of the business such as manufacturing/production, delivery, materials, wages, receivables/payables, etc. + Abide by all regulations, policies, work procedures, and instructions. + Manage the financial reporting, accounts receivable, and accounts payable departments. + Assist in implementing a new ERP system. + Other related duties as required and assigned. Qualifications Experience & Qualifications: + Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting with at least 6 years of financial reporting experience (half in consolidations). CPA and external audit experience is strongly desired. + In-depth understanding of accounting (including GAAP) financial principles. + Customer-focused with the ability to positively and effectively interact with internal and external customers and vendors is essential. + Excellent verbal and written communication skills is required. + Ability to set priorities, and meet timetables leading to the attainment of goals. Excellent project-management skills, including forecasting skills and project planning is needed. + Strong problem-resolution and analytical thinking skills. + Excellent team-player; Strong ability to effectively interact with multiple departments. + Flexible with the ability to adapt to varying situations. + Good computer skills (MS Office). Must be technically strong with MS Excel. + Prior ERP experience is required. + Previous experience with Great Plains (GP) or Microsoft D365 would be beneficial. Additional: + While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This is largely a sedentary role; however, some administrative duties such as filing is required. This requires the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets, and bend as needed. The ability to climb stairs is also needed. + Previous personnel management experience is required. The position requires the ability to identify, develop, coach, and motivate direct report staff. Direct reports include the accounts receivable and payable supervisors and financial staff accountant. + Regional travel will be required (approximately 20% of the time) to our multiple locations. + The typical hours will be Monday-Friday role (8:00 am – 5:00 pm) however some evening and weekend work may be required. + Position requires background and credit check.
