Controller - Electrochem

The Controller - Electrochem reports to the VP of Finance, Global Operations and is responsible for all financial and accounting functions within the operation, providing support to the Senior Finance Team at Ultralife. Provide ongoing, day-to-day financial support and counsel to Electrochem President as a “business partner”. Performance of responsibilities is expected to be completed on an accurate and timely basis, and with minimal supervision. During the systems transition, the position will be assisted by Ultralife’s VP of Financial Growth, Transition & Efficiency. Essential Responsibilities: + Assist with the transition to a new ERP System (from Oracle to Syspro) and establish related accounting systems and controls to meet the reporting and compliance standards of Ultralife + Generation and management of monthly and quarterly financial statements, in accordance with GAAP requirements, including account reconciliations and transactional analysis + Manage and perform month, quarter, and year-end financial closings and provide ongoing analysis to understand, communicate and suggest actions relating to variances to Plan and expected forecast performance + Ensure accuracy of ERP system and other financial systems and tools and drive continuous improvement in financial processes, systems and reporting capabilities to enhance efficiency and accuracy + Maintain and implement internal controls in support of corporate compliance meeting SOX requirements + Perform manufacturing cost accounting functions by working closely with the local operations team to ensure accurate BOM’s are in place to ensure proper accounting + Develop annual operating plans and forecasts working closely with the VP of Finance, Global Operations and the Electrochem - President + Assist the Corporate Treasury function on questions relating to their handling of cash, A/R and A/P + Perform Manufacturing Cost Accounting functions by working closely with the local operations team to develop accurate BOM’s, routers and standards, and aid them in better understanding product gross margin performance + Financial oversight of inventory including valuation, costing, variances, and excess/obsolete and slow-moving reserves. + Financial Review and Management of Customer and Vendor Contracts + Generate SOP’s, Work Instructions, Forms, etc for all financial functions + Work as a leader and critical team member to foster a cooperative work environment Other Responsibilities: + Participate in key projects as required by Executive Management + Process improvement activities as identified + Other leadership and support as identified/needed Job Specifications: Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: + Advanced knowledge of GAAP accounting + Advanced level of knowledge and experience with financial transactions related to manufacturing processes, such as Sales, Purchasing, Inventory, Production, IR&D, Administration, Quality, etc. + Intermediate/Strong level of knowledge and experience using ERP Systems. SysPro software experience a plus + Advanced organizational abilities, oral & written communications and interpersonal skills + Intermediate analytical and problem-solving skills + Advanced ability to perform with little supervision. Must be self-motivated and energetic. + Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications Education and Experience: + Must have a bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance + Minimum of 5 years of hands-on accounting experience with month-end close in manufacturing financial systems and applications. + CPA preferred, but not required The wage range for this role considers the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs.
