Controllers ensure that the firm meets all the financial control and reporting obligations of a global, regulated and public financial institution. In the Controllers Department, our professionals measure the profitability of, and risks associated with, every aspect of the firm’s business. Controllers also ensure that the firm’s activities are conducted in compliance with the regulations governing transactions in the financial markets.
This group performs the accounting and financial control functions related to the balance sheet and revenue impact to Goldman Sachs and its private funds from its asset management activities. We are seeking an Associate to join the Dallas team. The Associate will partake in the following:
Responsible for day-to-day reporting and month-end / quarter-end closing processes for the team, such as: Prepare of books and records (PARA) of investment related transactions (P&L, purchases and sales and valuation adjustments) and of supporting documentations including reconciliations to the firm’s ledger. Handle P&L and balance sheet reporting, including coordination with financial reporting and divisional reporting teams to analyze key drivers/trends in business performance.Perform the submission of information used in the firm’s external footnote disclosures and regulatory filings related to AWM’s alternative investment business.Handle ad-hoc requests from various divisions and departments across the firm.Participate in teamwide and firmwide strategic projects to drive collaboration across stakeholders; push forward automation of processes.Engage with the business deal teams, including AWM Finance, and lead the coordination efforts with accounting policy and regulatory policy on investment deal-related reviews specific to the Real Estate investing activities.As part of the deal related reviews, will participate in and coordinate with legal, tax, ACMS and other counterparties to review specific structures and assess the impact at the Goldman group level disclosures. Perform the illiquid valuation review and perform independent price verification across various alternative asset classes, including presenting to senior stakeholders in Controllers and AWM.Prepare of books and records (PARA) of investment related transactions (P&L, purchases and sales and valuation adjustments) and of supporting documentations including reconciliations to the firm’s ledger. At least 5 years of relevant work experienceBachelors Degree (Accounting, Economics or Finance degree preferred)Preferred Qualifications:
