In this role, you’ll be pivotal to ensuring that our corporate and business strategies are supported by the very best financial accounting and control processes – and that these processes continually maximise our profitability and efficiency.

As a Finance Manager within our Financial Control team, you will combine technical accounting with coaching, communication, influencing, leadership and prioritisation skills to ensure that we maintain a strong control environment over one of our key Trading areas, and help the Traders/Buyers to deliver their financial plan (Sales & GP).

Your role:

As Financial Controller for one of our key Trading areas you would manage accurate and timely production of financial information for internal/external reporting, including compliance with group accounting policies and procedures and managing the related financial control environmentReviewing financial performance on a monthly basis with Commercial Finance customers including clear articulation of variances to plan/forecastMaintaining an awareness of risk management issues across a key Trading area, and lead cross functional projects to enhance the control environmentAdvising the Traders/Buyers and Commercial Finance teams on the risk and financial control implications of new business initiativesReview of month-end balance sheet reconciliationsDelivery through others – managing a team of 1 qualified accountant and 1 trainee accountant, a key part of the role is coaching and developing these colleagues, as well as managing the resources within the team to deliver team prioritiesDelivery of process improvement within the team, looking for opportunities to make processes more efficient

Qualified Accountant with post qualification experience (ACA, ACCA or CIMA)Strong technical accounting backgroundLeadership experience, in particular coaching and developing othersConfidence liaising with people at all levelsGreat analytical skills and a strong communicatorAble to quickly prioritise and make decisionsAble to think laterally and challenge the status quo

For this role we would require 3 days per week in the Leeds office.
